Havant Walking to Health

Getting Started

Havant Walking to Health is a free scheme suitable for people of all abilities from beginner to experienced walker. It is a great way to improve your health whilst meeting new people.

All the walks are led by trained and experienced walk leaders who are there to offer information and support on the walk.

New walkers will be asked to complete a brief health questionnaire before the start of the walk.

It is recommended to arrive a few minutes before the start of each walk for registration.

You will need suitable footwear and comfortable clothing as walks take place in all weathers. We recommend you carry a bottle of water on your walk.

Please bring any medication that you may need if applicable.

Enjoy the wildlife on this walk along a section of LangstoneHarbour where you can spot the many birds that winter here.

The walk takes you along mostly footpaths and the pathway around the shore line. The view across the harbour over to the Portsmouth skyline is forever changing with the tide and brings something different to see on every walk.

Not suitable for wheelchairs.

Denmead

Walkers can discover Denmead’s numerous footpaths leading around the village.

This predominantly flat course takes in the wildlife and changing scenery of the Denmead area offering some outstanding local countryside.

This gentle walk is suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.

HaylingIsland

The Complete Beginners Walk Programme.

This walking programme is designed for new walkers and those who wish to reintroduce light activity into their daily routine.

The gentle walking speed and shorter distance will bring many positive health benefits, making a difference to your well-being, whilst socialising in a friendly and supportive group.

Walks are varied heading both East and West taking in the wildlife and spectacular views along the coastline.

Havant morning

The Havant morning group offers the choice of two walks each lasting one hour. Both walks make varied use of the many paths and quiet roads between the Art Centre and the foreshore at Langstone.

The pace of the gentle walk enables good conversation and an opportunity to look at wild and garden flowers as well as ChichesterHarbour with its bird life.

The Brisk Walk makes the full use of the paths, roads, foreshore and footbridges over Havant Bypass. Each walk is aimed to be different to those on the previous three or four Tuesdays. Regular stops are taken to look at the views or things of local interest.

The walks give everyone a chance to meet others who have a common interest.

Havant Afternoon

This walk takes in some fantastic views around the Havant area and includes a large variety of wildlife.

Taking in the historic BillyTrail footpath following the stream and the LangstoneHarbour area, this walk has some beautiful views and ever changing wildlife.

There is plenty of contrasting scenery on this nice flat route.

North Emsworth

This is a social walk aimed at all abilities and ages.

On each occasion there will be a walk lasting about an hour and a shorter amble, suited to less confident walkers, mostly on flat ground and without stiles. The walks take place in Emsworth, neighbouring villages, local woodland, nearby countryside and along the harbour foreshore.

We aim to meet at 10.00 am in order to start promptly at 10.15 am.

Stopping for refreshments afterwards.

2nd AND 4th WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH

Meeting place: The SYRCH Centre off Cotton Drive.

Purbrook / Crookhorn

Refresh yourself for the coming day and enjoy the opportunity to walk with others with this morning walk from Crookhorn.

This popular walk takes in many beautiful footpaths and green space around the area.

Enjoy the fresh air and light exercise returning for refreshments.

Waterlooville

The Waterlooville walk encompasses beautiful park and woodland. With the choice of a shorter gentler walk around JubileePark or a slightly longer walk taking in the peaceful Queens enclosure. On both routes there is some wonderful views and wildlife to be seen.

HaylingIsland

Enjoy a variety of walks with the HaylingIsland group taking in the beautiful sea views.

This group offers a short walk with a gentle pace for beginner or slower walkers to enjoy.

The longer walk enables those who enjoy a slightly faster paced stroll to enjoy the Hayling coastline whilst socialising with friends.

Share a morning stroll with friends taking in the fresh sea air and ever changing environment, returning for refreshments.

West Leigh

Walk routes for West Leigh vary around the area and can take in the beauty of StauntonPark and StanstedPark as well as the local West Leigh area.

Taking in some beautiful local countryside and a variety of wildlife this is a refreshing walk that takes place in all weathers.

Contrasting views take in the urban parks and natural surroundings and animals.

EVERY FRIDAY

Nearest Bus Stop: Wakefords Way-21

Havant Thicket

Havant Thicket is about 2.5 miles long and takes about an hour to complete the walk.

It is suitable for push chairs/wheel chairs when dry and is conducted around the perimeter of the Thicket.

There is the odd chance to see deer and other wild life during the walk. The walk takes in some gentle inclines and is a good Cardio-vascular workout.

Wecock

Starting from the community centre, the Wecock walk winds its way through beautiful woodland.

This sociable group aim to make new walkers very welcome.

The Wecock walk is a great way to become active and help overcome many health issues as well as having fun at the same time.
