Retirement Fund for Religious

– November 7th & 8th

Please give to those who have given a lifetime.

Tens of thousands of senior sisters, brothers, and religious order priests have dedicated their lives to sharing their faith. Generations of Catholics recall with gratitude their work in Catholic schools, hospitals, and social service agencies. Yet years of ministering for little or no pay came at a price, and now their religious communities lack adequate savings for retirement and eldercare. Your gift to the Retirement Fund for Religious helps provide prescription medications, nursing care, and more. Please be generous.

Book of Remembrance

During the month of November, the “Book

of Remembrance”, will be located in the

Narthex. Please write down the names of

those whom you would like to be included

in the intentions of all the Masses offered

at St. Ann Church throughout the month.

Candles will be available in the Narthex to light and place in the brass sand bin on the Table of Remembrance, to the left of the altar, before Mass. Please also see instructions on the table next to the Book of Remembrance.

Personal Safety in a House of Worship:

The Arlington County Police Department, District 1 Community Relations Section, has developed a training workshop entitled “Personal Safety in a House of Worship”. The workshop emphasizes personal safety factors that all parishioners should be aware of and adhere to. The first of these workshops was held on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Westover Baptist Church. There were approximately 20 churches represented with about 40 people in attendance. The workshop was informative and very well received by those in attendance. The Police have volunteered to present this workshop to individual churches on request and agreed to do so at St. Ann Church Parish Hall on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 from 7-9pm. The workshop is available to all St. Ann parishioners and all are encouraged to attend. All ushers, in particular, are asked to attend so that they may be better prepared to deal with safety issues. Please register by Sunday, November 8, 2015, if you plan on attending. To register email John Karinshak at or by calling 703-534-9551. Light snacks and drinks will be provided.

Christian Stewardship:

32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time

“I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they all contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had, her whole living. ” (Mark 12:43-44)

Jesus gets right to the point – we are all called to give money to support the mission of the Church, regardless of our circumstance. No gift is too small or insignificant! Giving money to support the mission of our local parish is a matter of our faith, just like praying and participating in parish ministries. When you make a financial offering, is it from your “first fruits” or from what is “left over”?

A Helpful Guide

When considering annual or an adjustment to your giving to Saint Ann Parish, please consult the following chart as a general guide. Giving is an individual, household or family decision based on several factors including financial capacity. Therefore, a norm is not suggested. However, tithing, referenced in Scripture, is one benchmark provided as a guideline maximum.
