Harry J. Carman Fellowships

2015-2016 Application

FELLOWSHIP INFORMATION

Established by friends and students of former Dean Harry J. Carman in 1949, these fellowships are awarded to no more than two graduating seniors in Columbia College each year in support of advanced study. Fellowships are awarded at the discretion of the Columbia College Committee on Honors, Awards, and Prizes and do not ordinarily exceed $15,000 per award.

The terms are admittedly broad. In practice, the committee offers awards to help defray the cost of graduate education-toward any graduate degree, in any field, and in any location. The suitability of a candidate’s chosen course of study and choice of institution given his or her academic interests and trajectory are the major factors affecting selection. A candidate’s financial need for this support is also an important consideration.
