The Brimfield Board of Education held their regular meeting Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. in the Superintendent’s office at Brimfield Grade School.

Harmon called the meeting to order with the following members present: Gilles, Hoerr, Bauer, Weaver, Zinser. Dura arrived at 7:05 p.m.

The Board recognized the following visitors: Jenni Wahl, Jeannie Blane, Rachel Boudreau, Laura Young, Nicole Holzhauer, Megan Foerester, Laura Willman, Kevin Faulkner, Paul Reardon of PSA Dewberry and Chris Tyra of Mangieri Companies.

Mr. McNamara introduced all of the new certified teachers to the Board for the 2010-11 school year.

Weaver moved and Bauer seconded to approve the minutes of the May 19, 2010 Regular Meeting. Motion carried

Mr. Tyra passed out information to the Board regarding the time line of the construction project. He reported to the Board his concerns with the report on the topsoil. (report on File in the Unit Office)

Mr. Reardon reported to the Board on flooring options and passed out information on flooring comparisons. The Board’s consensus was to get two bids on flooring for the Commons Area, and bid the other areas according to PSA’s recommendations.

Mr. McNamara reported to the Board on his written report (on file in the Unit office). He also discussed Mr. Bender approaching him regarding the sell of his house, which is adjacent to the new high school. Mr. Bender asked if the Board would be interested in purchasing his house. The Board asked Mr. McNamara to find out what price he would be selling for, and report back to them.

Zinser moved and Weaver seconded to set Special Meeting Dates to approve bid packages, and make decisions regarding the construction project. Special Meeting Dates are as follows: July 1st, August 4th, and September 1st. All meetings will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Superintendent’s office. Motion carried

Gilles moved and Hoerr seconded to approve the consent calendar items as presented which included the following items: bills for payment for the month of June, and bills due after July 1st, Position Statement and Treasurer’s Report for May, the high school and grade school activity reports for May. Roll call vote: Gilles – yes, Hoerr – yes, Bauer – yes, Weaver – Abstain, Dura – yes, Zinser – yes, Harmon – yes. Motion carried

Gilles moved and Dura seconded to accept the bid from Kreiling Roofing Co. to re-roof the partial west wing of the elementary building funded with Life Safety Funds. Roll call vote: Zinser – yes, Gilles – yes, Hoerr – yes, Bauer – yes, Weaver – yes, Dura – yes, Harmon – yes. Motion carried

Weaver moved and Gilles seconded to employ the employees listed below. Roll call vote: Dura – yes, Zinser – yes, Gilles – yes, Hoerr – yes, Bauer – yes, Weaver – yes, Harmon – yes. Motion carried
