Family Participation Program

2014-2015

The leadership of the Hanson/St. John family has created a plan to build school, family, and community relationships, to increase comradery, and to boost participation and involvement by all parents in all facets of HMS/St. John life. This program will provide for needs and services which help the schools fulfill its missions. While this plan represents an absolute minimum of service, we call those families and friends who fully support our schools to an abundance of participation to continue the rich traditions of Hanson and St. John.

The sheer multitude of opportunities for family participation is awesome. Note that you may volunteer at either or both schools, as we promote unity between Hanson and St. John. If you cannot provide a volunteer commitment in one of the listed areas, please contact the office to see if there is some special talent or ability that can be mutually agreed upon to meet your obligations. For those families who choose to participate, a minimum of 20 hours per family per year is required. For those who are unable to actively participate in providing these needs to the schools, a minimal fee of $300 is required. Participation hours must be earned by March 31 of the current school year. Hours earned after March 31 will apply to the following school year. You will be assessed for any unearned hours with payment due by April 15. Outstanding accounts will be treated in the same manner as any unpaid financial obligation to the school. Anyone who will serve in an activity with direct training service to or supervision of students is mandated to attend and receive a Diocesan approved Safe Environment training.

Please note that it is the individual’s responsibility to accurately record their participation hours by signing in on the activity sheet provided at each event. See the sponsor, coach, principal, or other chairperson for sign in sheets if they are not provided. After your minimum of 20 hours of participation is achieved, please continue to report any additional hours to help us calculate how many volunteers are needed for each activity. A separate sheet has been provided for you to track your own hours. This will not be turned in, however it may used to account for discrepancies or to aid in recording additional hours.

We thank you in advance for your continued commitment to Hanson and St. John. This program has far reaching benefits that will make the future of our schools the brightest they can be.
