SUMMARY:

DALLAS THEATER CENTER, a professional theater in residence at the AT&T Performing Arts Center, seeks a results oriented, dynamic and experienced Director of Development to join our leadership team. The position reports directly to the Managing Director, Jeff Woodward. The Director of Development will be responsible for planning and supervising the theater’s solicitation and collection of all contributed revenue, to include cultivation and benefit-fulfillment activities. In addition, this position is expected, along with his/her peers to contribute strategic ideas and suggestions to the long term strategic planning process and implement the agreed upon plans to success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and execute plans for soliciting, collecting, and recording contributions from all possible sources, including individuals, corporations, foundations, organizations, and government agencies.
  • Manages donor cultivation and stewardship and assists in board of trustees recruitment and cultivation.
  • Lead and oversees all fund raising activity including: individual, corporate, foundation, special events (annual gala), special campaigns, and government giving with current annual goal of $6 million.
  • Proven personal track record of campaign fundraising.
  • Strong leadership skills that include identifying, retaining and developing staff members/team.
  • A team player who works closely with the board of trustees, marketing department, artistic director and managing director
  • Develop and supervise all fundraising special events.
  • Create and supervise cultivation, social, and benefit-fulfillment activities that support the development department’s fundraising goals.
  • Serve as staff liaison to the board’s Campaign Committee as the appropriate campaign’s are developed and executed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Managing Director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Extensive experience in fundraising for a non-profit organization, with a strong preference toward experience in the performing arts
  • A minimum of 3-5 years supervisory experience

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

  • Broad understanding of the operations of a performing arts organization
  • Knowledge of and love of theater
  • Proven experience in non-profit fund raising and management
  • Ability to multi-task
