Curriculum

3D Animation

Level 2 – Second Year

Program Emphasis: The student will continue to develop and refine attitudes, knowledge and skills learned in 3D Animation Level 1. 3D animation includes the creation of objects and the ability to animate movement. The student will explore more advanced methods of model creation, special effects, as well as advanced camera and light manipulation. Additional exposure to other programs to enhance the desired outcomes of the animation project will be emphasized. The student will recognize the relationships this art has to other fields including technology, media and mass communication.

This curriculum is constantly building and evolving around the individual student’s skill and commitment. Each lesson builds upon previously learned concepts. All concepts are expected to be integrated in each successive level of complexity.

Visual Communication and Production

AIII.1The student will maintain a sketchbook/journal that demonstrates research, fluency of ideas, concepts, media and processes.

AIII.3The student will produce works of art that integrate a consistent knowledge of the elements of art and the principles of design.

AIII.13The student will compare and analyze relationships between styles or cultures using an expanded art vocabulary.

Judgment and Criticism

AIII.18The student will use an expanded art vocabulary related to design, composition, aesthetic concepts, and art criticism when discussing works of art.

AIII.21The student will participate in developing criteria for a class critique.

AIII.22The student will analyze the attributes of a work of art in terms of its ability to evoke a viewer response and command sustained attention.

Aesthetics

AIII.25The student will demonstrate in writing the ability to identify, analyze, and apply criteria for making visual aesthetic judgements.

AIII.26The student will debate the perceived intentions of those creating works of art.

AIII.27The student will study, describe, analyze, and interpret the aesthetic qualities of works of art.
