SUMMARY:This is a middle management position requiring technical skill and training. The incumbent is the supervisor/manager of the financial department. The incumbent will perform a variety of tasks including maintenance of an automated general ledger, accounts payable, and billing system, staff supervision, and the production of financial projections, and written monthly reports as requested. The incumbent functions as part of the agency’s management team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. A four year degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration (some flexibility).

2. A minimum of five years experience in the field of accounting or finance, two of which must be at the supervisory level.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  1. Experience in a non-profit human service agency preferred.
  2. Through knowledge of standard accounting procedures and methods.
  3. Knowledge of a non-profit accounting with an emphasis on preparation of health and social services financial reports.
  4. Working knowledge of computerized systems and their application to non-profit organizations.
  5. Familiarity with medic computer systems desirable.
  6. Experience in the supervision and evaluations of staff.
  7. Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.
  8. Ability to work under competing demands and intense pressures.
  9. Ability to work independently and to monitor/supervise the day to day operations of the financial department.
  10. Able to demonstrate a professional attitude and stability adequate for the performance of the stated job duties.
  11. Ability to interact with board members, staff, subordinates, and the general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Duties may include light to moderate exertion of manual effort in transporting materials and equipment; lifting, bending, pushing, and/or pulling loads up to 25 pounds; prolonged viewing of CRT equipment in a confined position.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The work is carried out in a clean, well lighted environment with mildly disagreeable conditions such as multiple telephone lines, noise and frequent interruptions.

ACCIDENT/HEALTH HAZARDS:

The tasks performed on the job produce exposure to injuries such as minor cuts or sprains. Little or no health hazard is involved.
