1. status
The API 17TR8 task group continues to hold meetings every month since the beginning of the year, focusing on the body of the technical report. One of the main sticking point that impeded the group’s progress was the agreement of a design methodology flow chart. The first draft now contains what is seen as a workable solution as a designer wrestles with designs that transition from 15000 psi toward 25000 psi rated working pressure.
The first draft of the technical report went out for industry review in July and comments revised in October 2013.
At the last task group meeting in December, all but two voted to send the technical report out for issuance as the first edition. Task group members will continue to work in the areas of materials and design methodologies in 2014 to resolve outstanding issues and long term research projects.

The task group has swelled to over 103 participants from a variety of operators, manufacturers, and interested parties as the importance of 17TR8 grows through the HPHT world.
3. WORK IN PROGRESS
o The first revision has been prepared but some additional editing to the materials and validation sections is needed. Should have ready for SC 17 Ballot vote in February 2014.
o The materials and design methodology work groups will continue their efforts to resolve long term issues for the second edition of the technical report.
