Sectionals

Format: Traditional double elimination. All championship matches 2-2-2.
All conso matches 1-2-2. We willrun on 4 mats all tournament.
Entries:25 schools will attend. The “soft deadline” for all replacements for wrestlers who qualified for the Sectional Tournaments should be made by the Area Director and reported to the GHSA office no later than 10:00am, on Wednesday, February 1.Alternates will, however, be accepted into the tournament all the way up to the conclusion of weigh-ins on Friday.
The top 8 wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the State Tournament.
All replacements for wrestlers who qualified for the State Tournament must be made by the Sectional Director and must be reported to the GHSA office no later than 3:00pm, on Wednesday, February 8, 2017.Failure to meet this deadline will result in a vacancy in the bracket and schools failing to report a wrestler who will not advance are subject to penalties.
Weigh-Ins:Weigh-ins will be held at Mill Creek High School from 2:00 – 3:00pm on Friday, February 2nd. Weigh-ins will be conducted on 2 certified scales. A third, certified, check/challenge scale will also be available.A wrestler may step on 3 times without leaving the assigned weigh in scale. Any wrestler who is unsuccessful after his 3rd attempt will have an opportunity to step onto the check/challenge scale 1 time. If he misses on the challenge scale, he will be scratched from the tournament and his first round opponent will advance by forfeit.
A check scale will be available in the locker room all night Friday night. Wrestlers must weigh in at 7:30am Saturday morning.
Alternates:Alternates from the same area will be placed in the tournament only if there has been no attempt made by a qualifying wrestler to weigh in (ex: does not show or does not pass skin checks). If a qualifying wrestler attempts to weigh and misses weight, however, he will be scratched from the tournament (no alternate will be entered into the tournament), and his first round opponent will advance by forfeit.

Round of 16: 4:00 – 6:30pm (4 mats)
Quarters and WB 1st round:6:30-9:00pm (4 mats)
Saturday
Weigh-ins: 7:30-8:30am
WB 2nd round: 9:30 – 11:00am (4 mats)
Semi’s and Conso Quarters: 11:00am – 1:30pm (4 mats)
Conso Semis and Semis for 9th: 1:30 – 3:00pm (4 mats)
9th Place matches 3:00 – 3:30pm (4 mats)
Finals 1st/2nd ,3rd/4th, 5th/6th, 7th/8th3:30 - 5:00pm*(4 mats)
*We will not hold matches and start time is only an estimate. Finals will begin immediately after the conclusion of the previous round.
Awards:No medals will be provided. No team score will be kept.
ACT Testing:MCHS will be conducting ACT testing here Saturday morning. Please inform your athletes and parents that they are not to be in the halls at any time due to testing security. Please keep your parents and wrestlers in the gym and commons area only, and make sure to enter the school through the main entrance only.
Officials:Officials will be assigned and paid by GHSA.
Hospitality:A full hospitality room will be provided for coaches and officials. Your bus drivers, if present, will be issued 1 ticket on Friday and 2 tickets on Saturday good for a meal at our concessions stand.
Team Entry fee:None.
Admission:$7 per day. A two-day pass will also be sold for $12.
