GUIDELINES FOR AWARDS COMMITTEE FOR BOYCE CAMPBELL, JIM GOFF AND DONALD GRACE AWARDS

These guidelines are provided to the Awards Committee to assure a deliberate and proper selection of the individuals for the awards according to the awards criteria.

Introduction

These awards have been established to honor three distinguished members of Tejas Toastmasters Club and at the same time recognize the contribution, performance of members of the Club as Toastmasters.

These awards are not intended to reward the most popular member(s) of the Club without the corresponding merit of performance. Further these awards are not intended as recognition of long membership in Tejas without accompanying accomplishments or performance.

Committee

The Awards Committee shall comprise of at least three active members of the Club with a minimum of one year active membership. Anybody who has been nominated for one or more of the awards shall not serve in the Committee. A Committee member who is nominated shall be recused from the Committee. In the event that there are no members left who have not been nominated, a Committee member may continue to serve at the discretion of the Club President. Such Committee Member shall not participate in the discussion of the merits of a nominee or vote in the selection for the award for which the Committee Member has been nominated.

The Awards Committee shall be appointed in the last meeting in April to give ample time for the Committee to perform its duties in a deliberate manner.

Steps to be taken.

At the first meeting the Chairman of the Committee shall hand to the members copies of the criteria for the various awards. The Committee must solicit nominees from the members of the Club. Nomination must be accompanied with a justification for the nomination.

The Committee shall compare the performance, contribution, etc of the nominee against the established criteria for the award.

The Committee shall not rush to a selection. A thorough discussion shouldl take place in the committee to compare the merits of each nominee for each award. The Committee shall take a deliberate action in the selection of the awardee. This should be done at least in two or three meetings of the Committee.

The Awards Committee shall follow and conform with these guidelines together with the criteria for the three awards.
