Guidelines for Athy Municipal District SportsLPT Grant Scheme 2018

1.0Introduction

Athy Municipal District wishes to invite applications for their Sports LPT GrantScheme for 2018. The purpose of the schemes is to provide financial assistance to Clubs engaged in activities which encourage community participation and promote the well being of communities in Athy Municipal District.

General Conditions for Grant Scheme.

  • Clubs must be “not for profit”and open to public membership and policies and practises that encourage participation regardless of age, gender, race or ability.
  • Club must be formally established and must produce if required:

-Club Constitution

-AGM Minutes and Financial Report.

  • The money from the grant can be used for the purchase of equipment of greater value than the grant offer only if the club can provide the balance from their own resources. Clubs can choose to combine this scheme with grant aid other than from KCC
  • All funded activities must be located within Athy Municipal District.
  • No double funding from Kildare County Council sources will be allowed.
  • The contribution of the grant from Kildare County Council must be acknowledged in any promotional material associated with the project.
  • On completion of projects photographic evidence and receipts related to the spending of the monies granted must be submitted to Community & Culture Department of KCC.
  • Submission of invoices will not be accepted in lieu of receipts. Receipts must be on headed paper and marked "paid". Handwritten ‘Paid In Full’ notes will not be accepted.
  • An application will not be considered where receipts for grants received in previous years remain outstanding.
  • Having assessed your application and being in receipt of receipts for expenditure of any previous grants, a Letter of Award will issue to your group. This constitutes a contract with the Council.
  • Groups must have a Bank or Credit Union accountto process payment by direct transfer. Post Office accounts will not be accepted.
  • A copy of your group’s Bank Statement must be included with your application.
  • Treasurer’s contact details must be shown on the application, as remittance advice will only be sent to your group’s treasurer
  • Any monies unspent must be returned to Kildare County Council.
  • All applications must be made on an official application form and submitted to Kildare County Council by email to or to Community & Culture Department, Level 7, Áras Chill Dara, Naas, Co Kildare.
  • Closing date for all applications isTuesday 13th March 2018 at 5.00pm. Late applications will not be accepted.

1.2 Who is eligible to apply?

Sports Grant Scheme is open toclubs within Athy Municipal District engaged in activities which encourage community participation, volunteerism and promote the well being of communities within the Municipal District.

1.3 What Activities & Costs are not covered:-

  • Individuals projects
  • Programmes not in line with the goal of increasing participation in sport and physical activity
  • Payment of debt or loans
  • Ongoing running costs e.g. hall hire, prizes, transport, registration/affiliation fees, insurance etc.

1.4 What are the criteria for assessing applications:

  • Projects that foster social inclusion/integration in club/sporting activities.
  • Projects that maintain and increaseparticipation.
  • The capacity of the group to deliver the project.
  • Projects that are innovative.
  • Application that shows evidence of costings and local contribution to the project.
  • Quality of application - clear description of projects and costings.
  • Final approval of the grant will be given by the elected members of Athy Municipal District.

1.5 What is the maximum grant awarded?

The Sports Grant awarded is €1,000.

There is no guarantee that the maximum grant will be awarded.
