The following grade scale will be used to determine your grades:

B 84 – 86%C - 70 – 73%F below 60%

Tests: Tests will be given after the completion of a certain amount of sections in a chapter and will be announced in advance. Keep in mind this category makes up the largest portion of your grade (50%) so if you miss or fail a test, your grade will drop significantly.

Homework Policy:

Homework is assigned and posted on my website almost every day and is due the next day. You will receive credit for it on your assignment sheet the following day at the beginning of class. Each assignment is worth a maximum of 4 points. You must be neat and show your work in order to receive full credit.

You can make-up homework if you were absent with a valid excuse but I will not accept late homework after the due date.

I will also be using EdPuzzle to post tutorial videos and homework videos to help with some homework concepts. You must first enroll by going to Edpuzzle.com and signing up to the appropriate class period with the indicated class code below.

I will sometimes use the REMIND app for class announcements. You must enroll by sending the following text message to: 81010 PER 4:Msg: @cc895c0 PER 5: Msg: @cc895c

Tardies: Be in class before the bell rings. Class begins promptly and tardies are disruptive and unacceptable behavior. Your homework will also be considered late and you can only receive half credit at most for that day. Excessive tardies will result in parent phone call, referral, or Saturday school assignment.

Groupwork: This semester you will be sitting in a group setting to promote collaborative learning in the class.

Supplies: It is highly recommended that students in this class come prepared with certain materials that would assist in their organization, readiness, and ultimate academic success.

The following list represents the recommended materials.

  1. SPIRAL notebook for notes dedicated to math.
  2. A binder or a folder dedicated to math
  3. lined and graph paper
  4. pencils and erasers- I do not accept work done in pen!
  5. GRAPHING CALCULATOR (TI-83+ or TI-84 is the recommended calculator).A graphing calculator is important for advancing the skills being taught in this course and is required for Advanced Placement math tests. Many complex problems can only be solved using this device. A limited number of calculators are available for checkout from the library. Students may also choose to purchase their own calculator so as to have more opportunities to work with it and gain familiarity with its use.

Class Guidelines:

Ultimately, this class will be a place of learning and you are expected to know what is appropriate classroom behavior. In addition:

(1)No candy, food, or drinks (other than water) will be allowed in the classroom.

(2)Cellphones are a huge distraction in class. If for some reason a student has their phone in sight or heard, an electronic violation slip will be issued. (note: two violations result in a Saturday School). If this occurs during a test or a quiz, the student will be given a 0% on that assessment.

Cheating: Cheating is unacceptable behavior and will not be tolerated. This action will result in a grade of 0 on the material involved. If you are caught copying homework or you are letting someone copy your homework more than once you will receive a 0 for an entire assignment sheet (the equivalent of 10 homework assignments). Parents will also be notified.

Extra Help: A student is more than welcome to get extra help. We can set up a tutoring session on an as needed basis, usually a lunch period. I can also be contacted via email at: .

**NOTE TO PARENTS/GUARDIANS: If possible, please check your child’s progress online on Infinite Campus where grades areupdated at least once a week. I also have a website thru the school’s webpage at and I try to update homework assignments daily. The best way to contact me outside the classroom is via email at . I check it several times daily and will reply within a day.
