Topic: What is Public Health?...in the field, the careers, the opportunities?

Background: She knew she wanted to help people and interact with people, read history and wanted to find a major that allowed her to explore. She majored from Cal in Developmental Studies. She worked for 3 yrs as an HIV Test advice counselor in LA. Her most challenging job was working at a rehab center.

  • Sponsor a volunteer day with local community-based organizaions and government health agencies
  • Coordinate a health promotion/health education event or activity with a local community-based organization and government health agencies
  • Co-sponsor a helath promotion/health education event with the USH/helath promotion unit
  • Conduct health promotion/health education outreach activies at Cal and within local communities
  • Develop a classroom-based health education curriculum
  • Faciiliate health education classes at local youth/community centers
  • Participate in health policy advocacy activities
  • Sponsor a decal course
