1)Plan to engage grads/undergrads in faculty search
  1. Have lunch with faculty candidates; have lecture/seminar with faculty candidates
2)Past Setp., there was a workship about diversity and inclusion, which aim at creatinga climate that welcome everyone regardless who they are. This workshop will come back next week. And there will be a customized one for students in spring 2015.
3)Q: Could you define unconscious bias?
A: For example, the criteria must be decided at the beginning about how to review each candidate’s package. In addition, we will try to make sure questions directed to candidates are relevant to their academic life.
Q: Will faculty search committee look into the relationship between candidates and their students?
A: Yes, that is a critical part in assessing the candidates.
