Guest card instead of ski pass – free drive with all lifts

Oberstaufen the “Climatic Health Resort” situated in Allgäu, offers a unique recreational programme unlike anywhere else in Germany. The “Oberstaufen Plus” guest card is free of charge for visitors staying in over 300 hotel and guest houses taking part in the “Oberstaufen Plus” programme. In winter the card is the equivalent of a ski-pass and offers unlimited use of the complete mountain transport system belonging to the Tri-Border Region. Neighbouring countries are Austria and Switzerland. In summer the visitors obtain free use of the mountain transport system, unlimited travel with the shuttle bus and summer tobogganing. Other benefits include: free access to the local outdoor summer swimming pool and indoor adventure swimming pool with sauna amenities – “the Aquaria”, local museums and guided walks. There are 7220 inhabitants in the market town of Oberstaufen and in the previous year 208.779 visitors stayed on vacation in the town. Oberstaufen boasts more than 1.3 million overnight stays and for this reason the health spa town is considered the touristic centre of the German-Austrian Natural Preserve “the Nagelfluhkette”. Skiing without stress - but with lots of fun and relaxation

Oberstaufen the health spa town situated in Allgäu, is not one of the largest winter ski resorts. But unlike the other more famous resorts, Oberstaufen offers the perfect combination of winter fun, lifestyle, relaxation and revitalisation – at no extra cost. Visitors staying at more than 300 hosts offering the “Oberstaufen Plus” programme receive the “Oberstaufen Plus” guest card free of charge, with numerous recreational benefits and reductions.

This extraordinary offer is unique in Germany and is offered only in Oberstaufen. Benefits include: unlimited use of the complete mountain railway system, ski-pass for four skiing areas, use of the outdoor skating rink, free access to the local indoor and outdoor adventure swimming pool with sauna amenities. Unlimited use of the shuttle bus, free access to local museums and free parking on nine of the designated car parks. The extra holiday expenses magically disappear and leave unlimited opportunities and unforgettable experiences.

A family with two children of school age save at least 200,- € per week and a walker saves approximately 70 € during a weekend. Skiers save even more as all of the areas ski passes are included in the “Oberstaufen Plus” guest card.

There is no need for Oberstaufen to hide behind its numerous winter sport opportunities that it has to offer. The 1843 meter local mountain “Hochgrat” is an insiders’ tip for freerider and off-piste skiers, with the ski slope being the longest in the region. The ski-run at the “Hündle” has even been used for World-Cup competitions. Most of the ski slopes are categorized as blue or red runs and are ideally suited to the average skier. Artificial snow can be produced in “Steibis” and “Thalkirchdorf” to guarantee great skiing when mother nature doesn’t obey.

Oberstaufen boasts around 40 km. of downhill pistes with one cable-car for 4 people and one cable-car for 8 people, a chair-lift and 24 draglifts. On top of that there are at least 100 km of cross-country skiing tracks with 80 km. of them being certified and signposted by the DSV Nordic Active Centre. The 2.6 km. cross-country ski track at “Kalzhofen” is floodlit.

There are numerous activities for the non-skier in Germany’s only “Schroth Spa” and “climatic health resort”. One of which is the town’s naturopathic anti-aging treatment. Around 60 km. of walking trails are prepared especially for winter walkers and Nordic walkers. There are eight snow-shoe trails and the toboggan run at “Imberg” provides great fun and entertainment right through into the night.

Unlimited use of the outdoor skating rink is free of charge, as well as the spectacular guided walks in the surrounding Natural Preserve “Nagelfluhkette”. A visit to the model railway exhibition “Miniwelt” and the museum of local history are also free of charge. The guest card also provides many reductions in all the other holiday resorts in Allgäu and the neighbouring region of Kleinwalsertal.

Oberstaufen, famous for its unique body cleansing treatment “Schroth Cure”, has extensive fun activities to offer in winter, too. Snow-shoe trekking, night tobogganing events, rustic alpine parties, evening walks with flaming torches to light the way or romantic horse-driven sleigh-rides.

The countryside of the Allgäu alpine foothills situated to the east of Lake Constance with rolling, hilly terrain. Here the alpine huts serving refreshments are easier to reach than those situated in the rugged, mountainous countryside of the Alps. The many villages belonging to the market town of Oberstaufen have not lost their charm, even though many exclusive hotels and holiday flats are situated there. Several of these noble establishments belong to some of the best accommodation in Germany. The flair of the town and surrounding villages is even more impressive in the winter. The favourite leisure activities are shopping, going out and meeting people.
