GROVEDALE … GARDENS 2010

Grovedale’s Community Festival - 10 September 2010 to 10 October 2010

The Grovedale Community Centre is coordinating the ‘Grovedale … Gardens 2010’ Festival, which will run for a four week period commencing Friday 10 September 2010.

Purpose

A Grovedale community Festival will:

-Contribute to a sense of belonging and identity of Grovedale residents.

-Create social and economic activity in the Grovedale area.

-Contribute to the public amenity of the Grovedale suburb through lasting community arts projects.

-Build bridges between Grovedale residents and the wider Geelong and Victorian community.

Future festivals will have alternative themes to ensure the engagement of a wide range of community groups, to maintain creativity and ensure a diversity of activities.

Grovedale Community Centre

Grovedale Community Centre will act as an umbrella for the Grovedale …. Gardens 2010 Festival by reaching out to local groups and organizations to actively contribute through their own networks. All local organizations, schools and businesses are invited to create and coordinate new projects that can be held or showcased during the Festival period.

Activities can be held on any site within the general Grovedale area or may involve coordination of Grovedale residents to engage in activities outside of the area.

Activities may include workshops, speakers, special open days, opening of new gardens, demonstrations, etc. The only requirement is that the activity fit within the 2010 Festival theme of ‘Grovedale … Gardens’.

Grovedale Community Centre will coordinate the events into a Grovedale … Gardens 2010 Calendar of Events and will promote this Calendar through coordinated marketing.
