GROOMING YOUR YORKIE

These are the minimum care items you will need for grooming and the daily care of your new yorkie puppy. Most are available at your local pet supply store or online and this list will help you plan your budget for your new puppy. As you can see, although there are top of the line professional items made especially for dogs available, for a single dog you can use less expensive human items instead.

GENERAL GROOMING SUPPLIES / Approximate Cost

BATHING SUPPLIES (unless you take him to a groomer every 2-4 weeks)

/ ·  Blow dryer. Any dryer that can be set on low. Household dryers are available in the local Walmart dryer and large dog dryers are available online / $20.00 - $1000.00
GENERAL SUPPLIES
/ ·  1 halter or small dog collar and leash (halter should go around legs, not neck) / $15.00 +
/ ·  1 - 24" high x-pen (useful for housetraining, when you have guestsand whentraveling by car) I personally recommend a metal only pen since puppies can chew on plastic and wood / $60.00 +
/ ·  2 to 4 washable incontinence pads. Count on changing the pad daily and assess your ability to do laundry when deciding how many you will need. You may have togo to a specialty drug store or bedwetting store to find them but puppies will shred the disposable pads and possibly eat the cotton inside, which can cause serious illness or even death if it stops up their digestive system. / $20.00
