Purpose of the Assessment:

The purpose of this assessment is to articulate an understanding of key ideas about student learning in higher education through critical responses to three stimulus statements.

Task Description:

  1. You will be asked to respond to three stimulus statements (see 4. Below) drawing upon the ideas and readings presented in the modules.
  2. Your response should:

  4. Explain the ideas about learning that are related to your response to the three statements.
  5. Use evidence from learning theory and literature to support your judgement
  6. Support your judgement with examples from practice
  7. Each response will be approximately 400 words. You should submit 1200 words in total.
  8. You are to respond to the following three statements:
  1. “Once a surface learner always a surface learner”
  2. “The content knowledge that students bring to their university courses will determine how well they do in the course”
  3. “Active learning is only suitable for some students”
