GRENADIER GUARDS SERGEANTS’ (PAST AND PRESENT) CLUB DINNER 2014

Dear Member,

1.GENERAL

This year the Sergeants' Past and Present Dining Club will be holding their annual dinner at Lille Barracks, Aldershot on Saturday 18th October.

3.ANNUAL DINNER AND DANCE

This year’s annual Sergeants (Past & Present) Club Dinner and Dance will be held on Saturday 18th October 2014, in the Sergeants’ Mess, Lille Barracks, Aldershot GU11 2NQ

All members are asked to be in attendance by 1900 hours, with the dinner commencing at 1930 hours.

The cost of this year’s dinner will be £35:00.

4.GUEST OF HONOUR

This year the Club is greatly honoured to have Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) S Tuck BEM as our Guest of Honour.

5.ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The Annual General Meeting will be held in the Lord Room/Medals Bar prior to the Dinner. Members wishing to attend are asked to be seated by 1800hours. All members are encouraged to attend.

6.WINE

The Committee has selected the following wines:

Please note 2 bottles of each wine and 1 Bottle Port will be placed on each table and is included in the price of your ticket.

7.MENU

STARTER

Duo Du Fromage avec Pate

(Baked lemon mozzarella, breaded camembert and chicken liver & apple pate garnished with rockette salad and a balsamic glaze served with rustic bread)

Trio du Fromage (Vegetarian Option)

(Baked lemon mozzarella, breaded camembert & a ricotta fritter garnished with rockette salad and a balsamic glaze)

MAIN COURSE

Tornados Rossini

(Fillet steak served on Walnut Bread, topped with Foie Gras, Wild Mushrooms and a Madeira Sauce)

Vegetarian Wellington

(Puff pastry parcel of butternut squash, chestnut mushrooms, pine nuts and chestnuts garnished with wild mushrooms and a Madeira sauce)

Fondant Potato

Medley of Seasonal Vegetables

Madeira Jus

DESSERT

Chocolate Mocca Pot

(Chocolate & coffee ganache served in a espresso sized dark chocolate cup, topped with chantilly cream and caramel sauce and served with chocolate ganache sugar cubes)

Should you REQUIRE the vegetarian option, please indicate on the proforma attached.

8.SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

Please note that seating will consist of round tables often, as in previous years. With the exception of the Top and VIP table, there will be no formal seating plan.

9.TABLE ETIQUETTE

Members and their guests are reminded that this is a formal occasion and are asked not to get up from their tables until after the Loyal Toastshave been completed.However, ladies may take a comfort break prior to the Loyal Toast Commencing.

ALL are to remain seated for the speeches from our President and Guest of Honour.

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS SMOKING ALLOWED. Your support in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

10.FORMAT OF THE EVENING

The Regimental Dance Band will play during the Dinner and entertainment will be laid on in Sergeants’ Mess, immediately after the dinner and speeches have ended. To avoid any congestion an outside bar will also be in operation during the evening.

11.DINNER NOTICE

Finally, should you wish to attend this year, please complete the attached proforma and return it to me by no later than Monday15th September 2014.

12.COMMITTEE MEMBERS

We are currently looking for two Past Members to serve on the Committee. If you are interested and would like to put your name forward to be considered for election at the Annual General Meeting, please let me know.
