Award Category (please choose one)

Intensive Industrial/Commercial
Extensive Industrial/Commercial

Intensive Institutional

Extensive Institutional

Intensive Residential (Multi-Unit)

Extensive Residential (Multi-Unit)

Small-Scale Residential (Intensive or Extensive)

Interior Green Wall

Exterior Green Wall

Note 1 - Extensive vs Intensive: An extensive green roof has a growing media depth of six inches (15.2 cm) or less, while an intensive green roof has a growing media depth of greater than six inches (15.2 cm).

Note 2 - If your roof incorporates multiple media depths the following guidelines will apply: if more than 25% of the square footage is intensive then the roof will be considered “semi-intensive” and judged with the intensive green roofs. If less than 25% of the square footage is intensive, then it will be considered extensive and judged in that category.

Note 3 - Small-Scale Residential is for projects that contain three or fewer housing units. Residential projects with more than three units must submit to the Extensive Residential or Intensive Residential categories.

Note 4–Interior vs Exterior Green WallA green wall is considered “interior” if more than 50% is indoors, and “exterior” if over 50% is outdoors.

Note 5 -When classifying the project, please choose only the category you feel best applies. In the case of a project you feel can fairly fit within multiple categories; we would suggest you pick the category that you feel shows the project to best advantage. Because each project can only be considered in one category, if multiple categories are selected, one will be assigned by the judges upon receipt.

Date of Most RecentMajor Plant Installation:

In order to demonstrate the viability of the installed system, we require that all submissions complete one full year of growing before being considered for an Award of Excellence. In order to be considered for the Awards of Excellence contest, the date of the most recent major planting must be one year before the submission deadline. Roofs that have made minor replantings or additions in the past year will not be disqualified; however, it is important that the plants are established.
