Minutes of Meeting

November 18, 2011

The meeting was called to order by President,Debbie Ludwig, at 9:08 am. Jennifer Shawdistributed minutes from the October 21, 2011 meeting.

Secretary’s Report: Jennifer Shaw

Melody Sanner made a motion to approve minutes from October, with asecond from Cindy Rooney, the motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Patty Lori

President: Debbie Ludwig

Money for 64 Kid Stuff books has been turned in. Some of the teachers have not yet turned in their envelopes. Debbie will sell additional books at the GES PTA Holiday Shop at GIS tomorrow.
Check Ohio PTA web site for the District 13 Barnes & Noble Book Sale.

1stVice President: Cindy Rooney

Membership to date is 170, with $180 in donations. Please encourage students, parents and staff to consider membership.

Council Delegate: Joy Fearigo

Debbie Ludwig will sell “Doggie Bags” totes left over from the dog walk at the GES PTA Holiday Shop.
Council is collecting Acme receipts as a fundraiser.
Reflections turn in night will be December 1 @ GMS
Helping Hands nominations are due January 19.

Principals Report: Jeff Wells

Canned food drive ends today.
Mrs. Gostlin’s class held their annual Thanksgiving luncheon yesterday.
Winter sports season try-outs have been completed and practices are underway.
Picture retake day will be held December 8.
On Monday, November 14 Melody Sanner and several students attended aleadership conference. Chain Reaction students from GHS will come to GMS to help develop the GMS program.

Thank you to Patty Lori for making the banners to track canned food drive. They will be saved for use again next year.
Initial cost estimate for improving outdoor recess area for students is $60,000.
Class trips: A majority of students are planning to attend both trips. Payments are due today.

Cindy Rooney will pass a sheet for sign-ups for refreshments for future meetings.

Staff Appreciation: Melody Sanner

Holiday luncheon is scheduled for Monday, December 19. Melody Sanner will coordinate donations.

Student Liaison: Patti Lori

25 7thgrade and 8 8th grade students attended. Many volunteers helped @ trick or treat trail.
15 students have volunteered to help at the GES PTA holiday Shop tomorrow.
Students voted on activities they want to have. Skating party, prom night, movie night, and lock-in were some ideas the students suggested.
Valentine dance is scheduled for February 10, 2012. Themes suggested include Neon Jungle/Carnival. Students will vote on suggestions.
Fundraising ideas brought by students were: Tie day through holidays, Car wash in the spring.
December 9, next meeting in Room 115
Have a Heart campaign will be held again to encourage student participation.

Kid-Stuff Coupon Book Sale ends November 17. Money for 64 books has been turned in. Books will be collected on Monday, November 20, beginning at 7am.
Still looking for more fundraising ideas so that we can sponsor more students for class trips.

Unfinished Business:

P E Clothing – only 4 students have ordered, which is insufficient to place additional order. Moneys will be returned to these families.

New Business:

Concession Stand for regular season Basketball Games. Sign-up with Debbie Ludwig.
