Post:MVHR Technical Manager, full-time permanent

OBJECTIVES
- To provide specialist input to customers and staff for complex MVHR design specifications.
- To take forward the technical development of Green Building Store’s ground breaking Mechanical Ventilation and Heat Recovery (MVHR) department as Passivhaus technologies develop, working in conjunction with the Technical Consultant, Andrew Farr and other team members.
BACKGROUND
Green Building Store is looking for a creative problem solver with knowledge in building services and wishing to specialise in MVHR. The existing department is being remodelled due to increasing demand for MVHR consultancy and advice input to complex Passivhaus developments.
Suitable applicants will have experience specifying building services equipment and be technically able. They will have a good practical knowledge of maths and physics and the ability to apply these to design, development and problem solving. They will have the ability manage possibly conflicting demands and prioritise quality and performance. They will also be a quick learner and good communicator.

Green Building Store’s MVHR Department designs and supplies Passivhaus MVHR systems to commercial and domestic clients all over the UK, focusing on products that deliver long term energy efficiency and building occupants comfort in a sustainable manner.
Green Building Store’s MVHR design and supply service specialisesin buildingsbeing built or refurbished to Passivhaus standard, and specifies the most efficient units available. The demand for Green Building Store’sMVHR services continues to grow.
Suitable applicants will have the ability to understand the development and progression in the building services requirements of Passivhaus building methodology and be able to enable Green Building Store to enter into these fields if it is considered that there is value in doing so.

The post carries annual paid holiday entitlement of 28 days including bank holidays,
THE ROLE
1.Todiscuss ventilation strategy and specification options with customers with complex buildings.
2.To support the design team, assisting with specification,design issues and researching products to resolve issues.
3.To provide on-site MVHR technical input as required.
4.Tocommission MVHR systems designed and supplied by Green Building Store, sharing this role with at least one other team member.
5.To coordinate MVHR product development, drawing on specification experience.
6.To contribute to the effective running and the development of Green Building Store by providing input and carrying out other duties as required.
7.Some overnight travel within the UK will be expected to fulfil this aspect of the role.
Note that the Green Building Store expects team members to operate with a high level of autonomy and responsibility, once they are familiar with their role and have developed the competence to do so.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential Requirements:– please ensure that you demonstrate these in your application, giving examples where possible.
a)Technical background with advanced trainingin Building Services, and if not, in Mechanical/Electrical/Ventilation Engineering withcomparable technical knowledge and experience relating to heating and ventilation systems.
b)On-site experience in Building Services.
c)Building services specification for complex jobs.
d)A mathematical / physics approach to problem solving
e)Experience and competence engaging with site politics and negotiating
f)Technical aptitude to develop design skills for advanced ventilation system design, including ability to think and communicate in three dimensions.
g)Good communication and team working skills with customer focus
h)Ability to work effectively with limited supervision.
i)Computer literate with familiarity with CAD type programmes
j)Interest in ultra-low energy building technologies and Passivhaus
