NEW YORK SPA FACES A “DAY OF HOPE” FOR

THOSE LIVING WITH HIV OR AIDS

NEW YORK [April XX, 2008]— For those living with HIV or AIDS, the word hope symbolizes their struggles and accomplishments. A local spa and a major charity are joining together to give hope to young people living around the world with HIV or AIDS.

New York’s luxurious day spa, face to face nyc, founded by Enrique Ramirez, has agreed to donate 10 percent of its proceeds from massages and facials to the HIV and AIDS awareness organization Hope’s Voice International, during its “Day of Hope” event scheduled to take place on Fri, May 30 during the spa’s hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

“When face to face nyc was asked to help out Hope’s Voice International, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity for us to work towards getting the word out about AIDS awareness and the work of this wonderful organization,” says Ramirez, founder/lead esthetician of the spa, which he opened in 2004 in New York’s Flatiron district.

During the day-long event, when those who stop in or call to schedule a massage or facial and mention Hope’s Voice International, 10 percent of the cost of their treatment will go directly to the charity.

Founded by Executive Director Todd Murray, Hope’s Voice International is a national HIV and AIDS organization committed to promoting the prevention and education of HIV and AIDS to young adults. Hope’s Voice International uses open dialogue and peer-to-peer education, through speaker appearances of young adults living with HIV or AIDS and progressive programs to send this crucial message: HIV and AIDS does not discriminate. Hope’s Voice International aims to raise awareness and help young adults create the social change that is needed to end the epidemic. Hope’s Voice International has reached over half-a-million students in the United States in four short years with its speaker programs and the Does HIV Look Like Me? campaign materials. Recently the organization received funding from the United Nations to expand the Does HIV Look Like Me? campaign to Mexico, South Africa and Swaziland.

“The fact that fashionable businesses such as face to face nyc spa recognize the role that young people play in the response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic by agreeing to donate a percentage of proceeds is a reminder that we are not alone in the work to bring equality to all those living with this disease.” says Murray. “I am both humbled and grateful that face to face nyc spa has joined our cause."
