Les Dames D'Escoffier Cleveland (LDEI/C) is the Cleveland chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International. Our members are professional women in the food, beverage, and related industries. All are women of achievement, leaders in their fields as well as communities, each with a minimum of five years experience.The goal of our chapter is to carry out themission of our parent organization: to educate, advocate and donate;to assist and promote women in theprofessions of food, wine and hospitality; and to participate in Green Tables, LDEI’s CivicAgriculture and Garden Initiative, aimed at helping consumers of all agesbetter understand the link between farming and eating. In addition we provide opportunities for our members and their guests to socialize, network, andlearn. Through our activities, chapter members share their knowledge and expertise with one another, ourindustry and with the general public, andraise funds to support mission-relatedphilanthropic projects.

Who should apply:

Non-profit organizations (501c3) in Northeastern Ohio that are in concert with the philanthropic mission of the Cleveland Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier are encouraged to apply for a two year grant of up to $2,000 per year. The grant will be awarded by August 1 of each year in which sufficient funds are available to make such a grant.

Chapters around the country including Cleveland are participating in civic agriculture and garden projects, collaborating with established programs in their own communities or starting new ones. LDEI/C is interested in supporting organizations that strive to help individuals of all ages in Northeast Ohiobetter understand the link between farming and the food on their plates.

This grant opportunity will not pay for consultants, organization overhead, office equipment, or travel expenses.No grants will be awarded to any organization that employees a member of LDEI/C.

Les Dames d’EscoffierCleveland will be unable to consider proposals that do not follow these directions:

  • Use 12 point type with double spacing
  • Use no more than 3-4 pages for the proposal, exclusive of the one-paragraphsummary and budget page
  • Number the pages
  • Submit your request electronically to the chapter President(see Contact Us button on by April 1, 2016
  • Contact Jennifer Brush at with any questions you may have about the application process
  • Grant awardees are required to submit a final report within 12 months of receiving the funding and attend the LDEI/C annual meeting in September to present the project results to the membership
  • After the applications are reviewed, two or three applicant finalists will be invited to give a 15 minute presentation to the LDEI-Cleveland chapter on May 23, 2016. The goal of the presentation is to share the details of your organization’s funding needs and describe the way in which the money will be spent.

Please prepare your application by addressing the following questions.

  1. What is the purpose or primary goal of this project?
  2. How will the need be addressed?
  3. Who will be involved in this project? What are their roles?
  4. Why is this project needed?
  5. Where will this project take place?
  6. Please create a timeline of your project tasks.
  7. What is special about your organization that will ensure this project is successful?
  8. Are there plans to partner with any other organizations?
  9. Are you seeking additional funding from another organization in conjunction with this grant application? If so, where are you in that process? Have funds been awarded?

Please be sure to attach the following items:

  1. Cover letter signed by the applicant’s board chair and chief executive officer.
  2. Cover letter that includes the name of the organization, address, application date, project title, amount requested for specified time period (not to exceed two years and $4,000), contact person, title, phone number, fax number, e-mail address.
  3. Board list with business affiliations.
  4. Completed Project Budget table (below).
  5. Proof of IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
  6. One-paragraph project summary.
