Grant aid policy

What is Grant Aid?

Grant Aid is a local grant scheme aimed at improving the quality of life of people who live, work and visit the Woughton Community Council area.

Applications can be made at any time throughout the year and notification decision will be made within twelve weeks of receiving a completed application.

Who can apply?

Applicants must have/be:

  • a voluntary or community organisation, school or health body
  • a bank account that requires at least two people to sign each cheque or make a withdrawal or an established organisation that is willing to hold any award
  • a committee with at least three unrelated members

We do not award grants to

  • companies that aim to make a profit
  • statutory bodies other than, schools or health bodies
  • individuals

Woughton Community Council will fund a wide range of projects

Here are just a few examples of projects and community activities that we are likely to fund:

  • training for volunteers
  • supporting a Residents Association and Local Action Group
  • set up costs for a sports club
  • a creative arts project for young people
  • computer access for older people

We will not fund:

  • the running costs of your organisation (for example, rent, gas & electricity) *Residents Associations are exempt from this rule
  • items which only benefit individuals
  • salaries for permanent or fixed term contract jobs
  • activities promoting religious beliefs
  • political activities
  • activities which a statutory body is responsible for
  • loans or interest payments
  • projects that take place or start before you receive our award letter
  • costs incurred or expenditure committed (including deposits) before you receive our award letter

Every application should meet at least one of the threefocus strands for the Poverty priority set out by Woughton Community Council.

  • Advice

Depending on the nature of the application some or all of the following criteria may also apply:

  • a clear plan and the capacity to carry it out
  • How Woughton Community Council grant would help you achieve your objectives
  • Why this particular piece of work is needed
  • What the budget will be

Supporting documents are required as part of your application to Woughton Community Council as follows:

  • Fully completed application form
  • Evidence of the cost outlined within the application (this can be in the form of official quotes/ emails/ website page prints/ catalogues)
  • Audited accounts if the group is more than one year old or project/activity budget if group is less than one year old
  • Signed copy of constitution or rules
  • Equal Opportunities Policy or statement
  • Child Protection Policy – if your group works with children and young people under the age of 18
  • A copy of current / latest bank statement
  • A copy of the groups minutes agreeing to the grant aid submission.

Groups successfully awarded Grant Aid will be required to display the Woughton Community Council logo on their promotional advertising.

Applicants that are awarded Grant Aid will be required to return any unspent monies. Please return this with your evaluation and copy of receipts.
