Dear Attendees,
Welcome to the Fifth Annual Graduate Student Symposium co-hosted by the Mechanical Engineering and Bio-Medical Engineering Departments at the University of Michigan. This event showcases the excellent and diverse research that is being carried out in virtually all the fields of Mechanical Engineering and Bio-Medical Engineering by graduate students in the department.
The goals of the symposium are:
- To give current students a chance to present their work amongst fellow graduate students, faculty members and people from the industry in a constructive and diverse atmosphere.
- To give new and prospective graduate students an introduction to the research going on in the departments.
- To bring together members of the MechanicalEngineering and Bio- Medical Engineering community for an interesting and thought provoking event.
This year we are glad to have further participation from the Biomedical Engineering Department as well as the inclusion of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in the symposium. We will have two independent sponsor sessions, one from Lawrence Livermore National Labs and one from the chair of the Mechanical Engineering Department at KAIST. We hope they will help students to better understand the research being done at these two institutions.
Feedback to those giving talks and presenting posters is most welcome and encouraged! Please also do not hesitate to share your thoughts about the Symposium and ways to make it better.
Thank you again for your participation. Enjoy!
