To Whom It May Concern:

I am Roger Davies, a tenured full professor at Hitotsubashi University. I am writing this letter on behalf on Mr. Chris Elvin. I know Mr. Elvin because we both work part-time in the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Waseda University. In the three years that I have known Mr. Elvin, I have been very impressed with him both as a teacher and a person.

Mr. Elvin has a Master’s degree in TESOL, an honor’s degree in Organic Chemistry, and Japanese Proficiency Level 1. He is an intelligent person and has written several textbooks, including the one we both use to supplement our teaching at Waseda University, Academic Reading in Science. He has also just completed a content course book about the Sixties that he justifies with a solid rationale and excellent teaching notes that are included in the teacher’s book.

Mr. Elvin has boundless energy for his students, and he is always well prepared for his classes with challenging and appropriate materials that, more often than not, he makes himself. Mr. Elvin’s greatest strength is in his ability to assimilate and organize information to create interesting lessons for his students regardless of their level or discipline. I have seen the work that he uses to teach at his other schools, too, and they are always of the highest quality.

As a person, Mr. Elvin is honest, diligent, very professional, and great company in the staffroom, whether we are discussing work, second language acquisition, or otherwise. I have every confidence that should Mr. Elvin be given the opportunity to work at Sophia University, he will do a splendid job to the very best of his ability.

For these reasons, I have no hesitation in providing him with my strongest recommendation for any educational organization. Please do not hesitate to contact me should you wish further details.

Sincerely,

R. J. Davies
