____ Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization/Minor Procedures______
General Criteria applicable to all graduate interdisciplinary specializations and minors
All academic aspects of the graduate interdisciplinary specialization or graduate minor are subject to approval by each participating graduate program. Below are listed the general criteria applicable to all graduate interdisciplinary specializations and minors. Students should consult the appropriate graduate studies committees for specific information regarding the graduate interdisciplinary specialization or graduate interdisciplinary minor in which they are enrolling.
Graduate Interdisciplinary Specializations. A specialization involves two or more graduate programs outside the student’s major graduate program. A Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization requires a minimum of 10 and no more than 20 credit hours of graduate-level course work. These hours must include at least three (3) different courses, 9 credit hours of which must be taken outside of the student’s home program. A grade of B or better (or S when applicable) in required in each course comprising the specialization. The graduate interdisciplinary specialization will appear on the student’s transcript.

Operating Procedures
- The student completes the Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization/Minor Program Form online at Gradforms.osu.edu.
- The program coordinator of the interdisciplinary program approves the Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization/MinorOnline Program Form and sends it to the Graduate School and to the student’s primary graduate program advisor.
- The program coordinator will send the student an acknowledgement indicating whether or not the request is approved.
- The student must adhere to the curriculum of the Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization/Minor Program as indicated on the approved Graduate Interdisciplinary Online Program Form. If changes in the approved curriculum are necessary, the student must complete a new Graduate Interdisciplinary Program Form following the above steps. Departures from the approved Interdisciplinary Specialization/Minor Program could lead the specialization not appearing on the student's transcript.
- Upon completion of the Interdisciplinary Specialization or the Interdisciplinary Minor Program, the student must submit the Graduate Interdisciplinary Specialization/Minor Transcript Designation Online Form through Gradforms.osu.edu. The completed form will be sent to the Graduate School for posting the specialization/minor on the transcript.
- ATTN Students: Please use the form below for YOUR OWN records. Only online submissions via Gradforms.osu.edu will be accepted.
