Grade 4 Classroom News: Week of February 5-9, 2018
Religion:The memory verse for the week is Psalm 103:13, “As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear Him.”
Reading:We will be reading “Encantado: Pink Dolphin of the Amazon.” The high frequency words for this week are: dolphins, surface, pulses, aquarium, flexible, enchanted, and glimpses.
English: We will bediscussing subject and object pronouns.
Math: We have finished practicing our multiplication math facts by groups. Some students will benefit greatly from continuous practice.
Health: We willdiscuss a healthy weight.
Science: We will be finishing the chapter this week and review for the test at the end of the week.
Social Studies: We will discuss the Frontier Wars.
Important News
- Students should continue to read at home and in school to achieve their A.R. goals.
- Wear hearts, pink, or red and you may wear jeans on February 9th.
- We have completed the daily multiplication math fact tests. We needed to review the facts because so many students had difficulty with 2 digit x 2 digit math problems. I realized that it was due to not knowing the multiplication facts. Students are allowed to redo any multiplication fact test in the next week when they are ready. I gave students a sticky note with the facts I thought they might want to redo. Students should continue to practice math facts and 2 digit x 2 digit problems. Thank you for all of your help with these lessons.
Future Events
- February 14th is our Valentine’s Day party. This is a Wednesday.
- We will not have school on Monday, February 19th for Presidents’ Day.
