Class Jobs

Attendance Clerk– fills out “Good Neighbor” report for students when they are absent.

Grab 1 extra of everything handed out for the day. Place all materials in

“We Missed You” folder and place on their desk at the end of the day. Put their

chair up at the end of the day. Optional: can do their job without pay

Prerequisite: Must have good handwriting. Must be alert during the day and stay on top of what is assigned.

Planner Assistant 1 2– 8:30am & 11:15am

- give stickers to planners that have parent initials, circle those who don’t in red pen

- place check mark in teacher initial box if everything is written down

Prerequisite: Must have good eyesight. Must work well under pressure.

Library Clerk– keep library tidy and organized. Place all reference books on first shelf.

All math books go on second shelf and all science books go on bottom shelf.

Prerequisite: Must have a love for books. Must be organized.

Courier– deliver messages/books wherever needed in school at any time

Prerequisite: Must know way around the school. Must be professional. Must

be trustworthy.

File Clerk– file (into file folders) papers from the “graded” bin

Prerequisite: Must be quick with hands. Must be responsible.

Paper sorter 1 & 2– put papers in 1-24 order. Pull out “no name” papers and give to

teacher. Record number(s) of the student(s) who handed in the

assignment on record sheet. Put all papers in appropriate envelope and clip record

sheet to envelope.

Prerequisite: Must know where envelopes are located. Must be good at

counting.

Floor Janitor– check floor for staples, paper clips scraps, etc. Report messy tables.

Prerequisite: Must have good eyes. Must be confident when reporting

offenders to teacher.

Custodial Assistant– clean surfaces like counters, tables, etc. Gently wipe down computers with dusters.

Prerequisite: Must know how to operate spray bottles. Must be clean.

Desk Inspector– make sure students are staying tidy- place CONDEMNED signs on

desks which need attention.

Prerequisite: Must keep own desk organized. Must know where signs are located. Must have people skills when talking with the offender(s).

Greeter– greet guests at door if we are expecting someone. Escort them to their seat.

Helps out the “substitute teacher” if needed.

Prerequisite: Must love people. Must have a good memory to remember what

Mrs. Myers directs you to say/do when they arrive.

Operator– answers phone “Mrs. Myers’ room, this is______, how can I help you?”

Prerequisite: Must have a cheerful tone. Must know how to operate phone.

Technology Specialist– turns computers off every afternoon before dismissal.

Prerequisite: Must know where all technology is located and how to use it.

Locker Police– keeps lockers tidy. Alert students when things are on floor, etc

Prerequisite: Must keep own locker organized. Must be comfortable with

approaching other classmates.

Pencil Sharpener- sharpens pencils at 3:15

Prerequisite: Must be quick packing up. Must know how to operate the pencil sharpener.

Must be able to read time.

Board Cleaner– erases approved areas of board every afternoon

Prerequisite: Must know where erasers are located.

Paper passer 1 2– pass out new material to each student

Prerequisite: Must know how to maneuver around the classroom, quickly and quietly

Must not be scared of paper cuts.

Door holder 1 & 2– holds doors open while class passes through

Prerequisite: Must be strong enough to hold open a door. Must smile often.

D.J.– will turn on/off music when directed. Can suggest kid friendly cd’s to play

during morning work and other times of the day. Teacher MUST listen and approve of the music before playing for the class.

Prerequisite: Must know how to operate Windows Media Player. Must love music. Must

follow on/off cues from teacher.

Announcer– makes announcements when directed/reminds of tests, etc

Prerequisite: Must be comfortable with public speaking. Must be responsible.

Manager– odd jobs

Prerequisite: Must be flexible. Must be well-rounded with many abilities.

Classroom Relations– reminds classmates of “Home court”, suggests ideas to teacher of how to

have a happier classroom, helps w/class meetings, willing to help out for small

scuffles if students request you, instead of the teacher.

Prerequisite: Must know right from wrong. Must have people skills. Must be

a good listener. Must be caring.

Banker 1 2- handles any money matters.

Prerequisite: Must be trustworthy. Must be good at math.

Environmentalist- takes recycling bin out to hall on recycle day

Returns to original spot in classroom.

Prerequisite: Must respect Earth. Must know the day of the week.
