Government

Ms. Hailey

Government is a semester course and a graduation requirement.

Students are expected to come to class on time and prepared with

binder and textbooks every day.

GRADING:

Quarter averages for this course will be based on “total points”.

Final grades are calculated as Quarter 1 (40%), Quarter 2 (40%), and Final (20%)

Grades are based on the following:

-Tests

Each unit has at least one unit test.

-Quizzes

Most quizzes are on calendar, but “pop”quizzes could occur at any time.

- Current Events

We will have “current events” days each Friday.

-Projects

Will be addressed individually

-Homework

Late homework is NOT accepted.

Extra Credit

Extra credit assignments are not given, nor will I allow you to do extra work to “make up”for poor grades or missing work or retake a test. If you are struggling, see me for help, but the best way to do well is to complete your homework, pay attention and participate in class and study. I will not give extra credit to make up for not fulfilling course expectations.

CALENDAR:

You will receive a monthly calendar with nightly homework, daily topics, quizzes and tests. There is no excuse to not know what is due.

ABSENCES:

If you are absent, you must either email on the day you are outor see me during Activity Period the day you return.

-If you are absent from class on the day of a test/quiz, you will take

it the day you return (extended absences will allow more time).

-If you areabsent the day an assignment / project is due, it is due

the following day.

-You will have as many days as you were out to make up missed work.

Field trips are the same as being in school. Work is due and the calendarstays in effect. If there is a test/quiz, you will take it the day you return. If an assignment is due, bring it in during Early or Activity Period.

It is your responsibility (not your teacher or coach) to notify me as soon as you know of an event. Failure to do so will not excuse you from work.

MATERIALS:

* Binder (11/2”)* Blue/Black Pens * Highlighters

* Pencils (noton non-scantron test/quizzes or essays; Regents rules)

COMPUTER ISSUES:

If you do an essay or project on the computer and, for some reason, are unable to print the final product, you willdo the following:

-Copy and paste the assignment to an email.

-Send the email from your school email.

-See me during Activity Period to make sure I have it.

Do not put it on a jump drive or send an attachment unless you also do

what is above. If you sendan attachment of bring a jump drive and I am

not able to open the file, it will be treated as late.
