NEW BUSINESS
WES Budget 2017-2018 / End of year financial update information received from the WQSB has been found to have many errors. The WQSB has been asked to re-evaluate and send new numbers.
Motion: THAT the WES Budget for 2017-2018 be adopted as presented....

K-4 Program / New this year, K-4 teachers are no longer contract workers but are WQSB employees with seniority and benefits. The WES office is in charge of registrations and receiving payments. Forecasting registrations, pricing and ensuring timely payments are challenges. The K-4 program will be re-evaluated at the end of the year.
Motion: THAT the WES K-4 Program for 2017-2018 be approved as presented....

Principal /
1.Buildings update
*Playground - work has started, clearing, levelling, fill, fence and hill
*embellissement for the two play structures was submitted in October
*Student laptops and carts have arrived, laptops being programed
*Well- waiting to hear back from the ministry that everything is okay with the levels, then needs to be connected and then tested for a month
2.Grants- school success $9389 to support learning in the three core subjects of English, French and Math; K5 grant $11,080 for support to Kindergarten students (technician hired); Grade 1 grant $33,120 for resource support for Grade 1 students (resource teacher hired)- motion required
3.No rentals
4.Destination Imagination, Music Makers, Debating for cycle 3 are happening this year
School Commissioner / WQSB Plannig+Review Committee still discussing at capacity situation of Greater Gatineau and PETES. Possibility of implementing boundaries for St. Mikes’s+Hadley/PWH also discussed.

3)WEHSA will send a message to parents about: enrollment numbers, drinking water quality+purchase of laptops+carts through 0'learn
4)Pizza money profits are at $4278.02. WEHSA will send a message to parents explaining the choice of going with Pizza Pizza as a supplier.
5)The grade 6 committee will: hold a bake sale on Nov. 9th; will have a booth at the Xmas Market; will sell wreaths; will hold a Vesey's spring bulb sale. A kids' bingo night is also being considered. Approximately $500 was earned from the fall bulb sale.
6)WEHSA has an account with Des jardins in Masham. 63 families have memberships.
7)A spirit wear apparel sale will begin in early Nov. It is being run through an online pop up shop. Orders will come already sorted by order and elivered to the school for distribution. T-shirts, long sleeved shirts, hoodies and pants will be sold in youth + adult sizes. Red, Gray, Black + Pink will be available.
8)WEHSA will decorate and organize some activity stations for Halloween.
9)The Holiday Sale is planned for Dec 21. Donations of wrapping paper and gift bags will be collected in November + December. WEHSA will provide some bins.
10)Instead of a chili cook off, a movie night is planned for Friday, Nov 17 6-8pm. Grade 6 will have a concession stand. WEHSA will sell popcorn.
Daycare Rep / November PDA activities include: Clip and Climb, interactive games with large balls and activities, games and movie day.
40 students have signed up for ski club.
Teachers / October 19-203 teachers attended UDL (universal design for learning)
October 20thTIP training (teacher induction program) Darlene, Sylvie and Allysun are mentors this year
October 19thGrade 6 visited Parliament
Halloween activities were appreciated by teachers and students; transition were smooth and activities were well planned and fun!
Me to We haunted house was also a success; food bank donations were abundant (Hurricane relief collected 780$)
Nov. 15th We Day at the CT center. 12-Grade 6 students will be attending
Assemblies/ Virtues/Spirit daysare a hit ( see attached document)
Nov. 3rd Lock down drill (same as fire drill)

Scholastic Book Fair; looking for volunteers
Parent Committee Rep / The first Parent Committee meeting was held onOctober 16th.
During the meeting:
-Rhonda Boucher was named chair and representative to transportation committee.
-Nick Giannakoulisvice-chair
-Anastasia Poulin treasurer
-Shannon Davis-Lafond as secretary
The SEAC committee was chosen and formed. We have 2 reps (Dayna Vadneau WES, and Shannon McLaughlin, Queen Elizabeth, from our area.)
Next meeting is Nov. 20.
