You also must be ready.
1. Jesus will come back ( ) He will come back but not during my life time.
( ) Jesus’ coming will be at least 10-20 years later.
( ) Jesus’ coming is imminent, any time now.
- Be dressed ready for action and keep your lamps burning.
- How would a man of action (service) be dressed? (Let your loins having been girded)
- How would a man of no action (no service) be dressed?
- Why does a man of service need a lamp?
-keep your lamps burning: ready for action, working in the darkness
-without a light, servant cannot see
- What is darkness?
-This world, blindness and ignorance
What is the lamp? Psalm 119:105
-Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path
- What is the way we should live in this world?
-stay dressed for action and keep your lamps burning
- The parable #1;like a man waiting for their master
- Where did the master go? 12:36

- Will he return?
-yes
- When will the master return? 12:38
-anytime
- The master returns and knocks on the door.
How long will it take for the ready and watchful servant to open the door? 12:36
-at once
- How will the master express his joy for the servants who were watching for the master? 12:37,38
-Master will dress for serving his own servants
- Why does a man feel sleepy? What does a sleeping man know?
-because it is night and time to sleep
-Europe is sleeping in spiritual perspective
-sleeping man doesn’t know that he sleeps.
- The parable #2 ; like a thief
- What information about a thief does the home owner have?
-thief was coming
- What information about a thief doesn’t the home owner have?
-what time, he is coming
- What kind of home owner can prevent his home from a thief’s break in? 12:39
-be ready and stay awake
- In what way will Jesus come? 12:40
-Jesus comes like a thief
-for the son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect
- What question did Peter ask Jesus? 12:41
-Is this for us or for all?
- A faithful and wise manager. What was the position of the manager before he became a manager?
(pastor, missionary) What work did the master give him to do? 12:42
-feeding food at the proper time
-Spiritual food, bible study, different books in various times
What will the master find when he returns? 12:43
-well fed
How will the master promote the faithful and wise servant? 12:44
-He will set him over all his possessions
What made this servant faithful and wise?
-my master may come anytime
7. A wicked manger What is the root of this servant’ wickedness? 12:45a My master is delayed in coming
(pastor, missionary) How does this servant manage the master’s household? 12:45
-begins to beat the male and female servants, and to eat and drink and get drunk
What will the master find out when he arrives? 12:46
-the master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him at an hour he
Does not know, and will cut him in pieces and put him with the unfaithful
When does a servant fall asleep?
-the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating
Will receive a light beating.
- What do we know about Jesus’ coming? Rev.22:20
-He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.”
What don’t we know about Jesus’ coming? Mk.13:32,33,34
-Be on guard, keep awake. For you do not know when the time will come. It is like a man going on a journey,
when he leaves home and puts his servants in charge, each with his work, and commands the doorkeeper to stay awake.
When Jesus comes back tonight, what will Jesus find you doing? Awake or sleeping?
