Minor Bantam 2015/2016

Bench philosophy:

Our belief is to have a successful team; you need to have a happy team for both players and parents. This success will be measured in many ways throughout the season, including the Childs development and how much fun he has had. During the combined 30+ years that our bench staff has coached, we have realized that it is very difficult to please all the people all the time. However we have found that when a decision is based on the good of the team, everyone benefits, not just one individual. This is why the team’s decision will be based on the team, and not any one individual. Communication will be key and we intend to have a coaching staff that look forward to keeping the families of the team well informed of our thoughts and goals.

One goal will be to WIN, but not at all costs. Other than the last few minutes of each period, the last 5 minutes of the 3rd period, and specialty situations we will promote equal shifts and fair play. As for the goalies it will be a 40%-40%-20% split.

We plan to have three balanced lines, which will promote fair and equitable playtime for everyone. Our goal is to eliminate any fear of requiring a specific player on the ice at any particular time. The most successful player of the specific period will be on the ice at the end of any given period.

Our plan is to teach the players in a hard working, disciplined, yet fun environment. We will get to know our players and avoid one of the biggest mistakes most coaches make, which is to have each player mold into the program set out for the team. Following the selection of the team, we will mold the program around the players, allowing us to create a balance, and develop each player according to his or her needs. This in turn will strengthen the whole team, and lead to the overall success of the team and players.
