Goldfields SES Challenge 2011

General Information

The 2011 Goldfields SES Challenge will be held at Kings Battery, approximately 35km east of Kalgoorlie. SES signs will also be placed both sides of the turn off. The area is not a main tourist camping ground. There is suitable access for caravans/buses and 2WD vehicles. There is some mobile network coverage.

This year the stands will commence at 9am Saturday so all teams will need to be in Friday night, preferably by midnight. Please inform Challenge Manager, Kevin Roberts if you will be arriving after this time.

As previously there will be toilets and showers on site. You will be required to bring your own towel and toiletries.

The weather in June is usually about 20-25 degrees during the day but can drop to minus three degrees at night with possible rain throughout the day/night. Please ensure you bring adequate warm clothing, wet weather gear and plenty of blankets.

You will need to bring a swag or similar bedding, and a tent to sleep in. Local bugs can be very social in the area, and a bottle of insect repellent is recommended.

Meals for the weekend will be provided as follows:

Saturday and Sunday – breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and dessert; and Monday – breakfast and morning tea. Friday meals will be on a BYO basis; a BBQ will be available for use should any teams arrive early. Anyone with special dietary requirements should contact Briony Burt on 0438 565 478 with details URGENTLY if they have not indicated it on there medical form or forms have not been submitted yet.

A nominal cost of $45.00 per person is required to assist in covering some of the costs associated with this event, payable to the Kalgoorlie-Boulder SES.

Alcoholic beverages and cool drinks are not provided. Alcohol must not be consumed by anyone until after the day’s activities are completed as per the Challenge Manager’s instructions.
