Colonial Job Project

Background: You are a job employer that has been magically whisked away to colonial times. Your teachers will assign you a particular job that you must fill immediately. As a part of this adventure, you must prepare for the Awesomely Spectacular October Job Fair in the 13 Colonies in an attempt to hire people for your job opening. Good luck!!!

Tasks/Checklist:

As a part of this project, you must:

  1.  Create a Monster.com job posting using the template given

Posting includes:

  • Job Title
  • Job Qualifications (3Bullets)
  • Job Responsibilities (3Bullets)
  • Pay
  • Hours
  • Contact Information
  1.  Develop/Bring4 VisualsFor Your Job Fair Table.

Required Visuals:

  • 2 Props (Prop = Any Object Relevant To Your Job. Can Be Homemade Or
  • Something You Already Have At Your House)
  • 1Coloring Book Page (Make It Colorful!)
  • 1 Job Poster (8 x 11 Copier/Computer Paper)
  1.  Present your job clearly & effectively at the Job Fair.
  1.  Complete a graphic organizer using 5 jobs at the Job Fair.

 EXTRA CREDIT: 5 bonus points will be awarded for dressing up in costume for the Job Fair.

  1. Colonial Job Coloring Page Handout Given In Class Monday, October 27th
  2. Research Materials – Use Web-Links, Other Internet searches As Your See Necessary

Colonial Job Project Calendar

Monday, October 27 – Project Introduction:

The project will be introduced and job assignments will be handed out. You should the use research materials & descriptions given to you to find information for your project.

Tuesday, October 28Wednesday, October 29 – Research Days:

Jobs will be assigned if need be. You should the use research materials & descriptions given to you to find information for your project. Once you complete your research, spend the rest of the time creating your job poster & Monster.com page, color the coloring book page, getting your two props together and organizing any other job fair station materials.

Thursday, October 30: Colonial Job Fair - Day 1:

This is the big day. Make sure to bring all of your materials and be ready to recruit people for your job opening! Dress up in colonialcostume for extra credit (you can change into the costume at the start of Social Studies class and change again at the end of the period)!!!

Half of the class groups will present (as “job recruiters”) and the other half will be “job seekers” and travel around to learn about each of the jobs.

Friday, October 31: Colonial Job Fair - Day 2:

The half of the class that has not yet presented will do so and the other half will be the “job seekers.”Dress up in colonialcostume for extra credit (you can change into the costume at the start of Social Studies class and change again at the end of the period)!!!
