PATEN represents Traffic Enforcement Officers from Barrow, Elbert, Lincoln, Wilkes, Taliferro, Oglethorpe, Oconee, Clarke and Madison counties. Director Bob Dallas of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safetywill kick-off the December-New Year’s Operation ZERO TOLERANCE (OZT) Impaired Driving enforcement campaign with a special PATEN ribbon cutting ceremony. GOHS will launch three new BAT-Trailers at the Savannah news conference to help step-up high visibility DUI enforcement at sobriety checkpoints across the state during the busy holiday travel period.

ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITY RECOGNIZED

GOHS is pleased to present members of the PATEN Traffic Enforcement Network with a custom-built Blood Alcohol Testing(“BAT”)-Trailer fully-equipped with a reporting station, Intoxilyzer, light-kit, generator, and holding cell. “This says thanks for protecting Georgians from impaired drivers and at the same time equips PATEN to provide even better DUI protection for future OZT enforcement operations,” says Director Dallas.

The PATEN Traffic Enforcement Network was awarded this BAT-trailer based on its 2006 performance amongotherqualified traffic enforcement agencies reporting resultsin GOHS highway safety mobilizationsand initiatives. GOHS Special Operations Director Ricky Rich said, “Members of PATEN are to be commended for their efforts.”

RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY

This December 15thPATENribbon-cutting ceremony launches thetwelfth of a fleet of “BAT” Trailers for statewide use in Georgia’s life-saving enforcement campaigns. The trailers have been awarded around the state during a three-year GOHS recognition program acknowledging the highway safety accomplishments of participating Georgia law enforcement agencies. GOHS will award BAT-Trailers number eleven, twelve and thirteen to Georgia law enforcement agencies during the Savannah news conference.
