“This One Thing I Know”

Composer: Sidney Cox

Jesus came to save me, by His precious blood,

Purchased my salvation, brought me home to God,

Cleansed my heart as white as snow,

This one thing I know.

This one thing I know, this one thing I know,

God in great mercy pardoned me,

Snapped sins fetters and set me free,

Once I was blind, but now I see,

This one thing I know.

Jesus lives to keep me, O what wondrouslove,

In the Father’s presence, advocate above,

Keeps me when sin’s tempests blow,

This one thing I know.

“What a precious saviour”, from here let’s sing it. There is a new voice today in the choir in heaven, a strong voice up there today. And I think if he were here, he would say, “Now you sing it this way, Bill. You sing it this way.” Let’s sing it the way we know he would like us to sing it. Last verse, “What a precious saviour, of His grace I sing.” Together now.

What a precious Saviour, of His grace I sing,

Once despised, rejected, soon our coming King,

On my path His light doth glow,

This one thing I know.

Prayer. Lt. Colonel Harry Ward (R) (CD 19, Track 7-8)

Let us pray.

Our loving heavenly Father, once again we cometo the parting of the way. Our Father in heaven, we thank thee forthe many rich memories of this gallant warrior, his spirit and soul who his life to be with. His body lies still before us. And we’re reminded of the oft quoted favorite verse of scripture, that we’ve heard him quote many times, “quietness and shall be thy strength.” His love for thee was so deep and true. He was sure of your love and . And as a result, he was pained with no doubt and fear, no answer. Peace is now his pillow. His quietness robs trial of its , sorrowof its bitterness, death of its sting and the graveof its victory.

Now, he is at last eternally united with his beloved Violet, who welcomed him as he came through the pearly gates. We thank thee for the impact on our lives he has made, for the beautiful Bible heritage coveted by so many but reached by so few which he has bequeathed to us. May the memory of his beaming countenance, his overflowing heart, the tears of his unconstrained joyurging us on to a faithful endand Christian children.

Dear Lord, loving Lord, we would pray that thou would reach out thy long arms of love and mercy and comfort those that are bereaved today - his children, his grandchildren, all of us who were counted among his friends. But especially the family, draw them close to they great spiritual support at this time.

May that day come when all of us, without exception shall bebrought to that place ofeternal beingaround the throne, where we too shall be united with him and with each other. Keep us safe. We ask in the loving name of our wonderful loving Lord. Amen.

Scripture. Major John Jordan (CD 19, Track 8-9)

And I heard a voice from Heaven saying unto me, Write, blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the spirit, that they may rest from their labours, and their works do follow them. (Revelation 14:13).

Thoushalt guide me with thy council, and afterward receive me to glory. Whom have I in heaven but thee and there is none upon earth that I desire beside thee. My flesh and my heart faileth, but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever. (Psalms 73:24-26).

Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. Behold, I show you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is they victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (I Corinthians 15:50-58).

Duet (CD 19, Track 9):

“Make My Heart A Garden”

Composer: Sidney Cox

Major & Mrs. Raymond Cooper

Make my heart a garden, so that flowers may grow,

Shedding heavenly beauty in this world below,

Jesus, Thine own fragrance, by Thy love impart,

Lily of the valley, bloom within my heart.

Jesus, Jesus, lily of the valley,

Bloom in all Thy beauty in the garden of my heart,

Jesus, Jesus, lily of the valley,

Bloom in all Thy beauty in the garden of my heart.

Make my heart a garden, wherein streams may flow,

So that flowers of Eden, beautiful may grow,

But the choicest blossom, fairest of the fair,

Lily of the valley, bloom with fragrance there.

Committal: Lt. Colonel C. William Jaynes (CD 19, Track 9-10)

I’m sure I speak for the Commissioner and all the Southern officerswhen I say we are honored and proud of the fact that this knight of thekingdom of God, this Army, soldier, saint, in his own heart to speak here in this place . Give us peace . We believe inJesus, and that’s a blessing from which none other calm, undisturbing .

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ who by his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. (I Peter 1:3).

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? And whence came they? And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (Revelations 7:9-17).

I want to put an to a walk with God along the road for44 years of 88 of thisdear man’s life, I was privileged to have walked with him, and one of our songs I think puts his life man of God, “He walks with God and turns his face to heaven and keeps the blessed commandsby Jesus. His life upright, his handuntroubled peace and all his labours .”

As it has pleased almighty God to promote our dear comrade, Sidney E. Cox from this place in the fellowship of our beloved Army, from his earthly ministry as a servant of Christ and a soldier of the cross, to the home prepared for him in heaven, we now commit his body to the grave, earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust, with the sure and present hopeof seeing him on the resurrection morning. Amen.

Benediction: Major W. Edward Laity (CD 19, Track 10)

…our Father, there is a place for this one who has passed our way, and he has enriched our life. For your word is more precious because he . We rejoice today for the fact that it is not a fancied life, but it is a life that has left an inheritance, for that which he gave of himself, his heart and his mind will enable us to walk bettertoday . For in the sorrow that comes to us joy. For when life seems so difficult, those melodies and those words come . When we contemplate the great work, the work that has been done for us by Jesus Christ, again when we cansing his songs, we rejoice that we have an inheritance .

Thank you again for this man and all that he means to us. To all that he means we will pray. Now the God Lord Jesus, the great shepherd everlasting Jesus Christ glory for ever and ever. Amen.
