The Book of Romans, Part 6

Sunday Morning, October 22, 2006

Your sins are not an ______to what is in

your heart, they are a ______of it.

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Romans 7:20-24 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

TWO
LAWS

·  We have ______from sin’s dominion, which

gives us the power to ______not to sin.

John 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

·  We will not ______to live in sin, and in fact

our new nature ______live in sin.

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

·  Our old nature is not ______but merely

______within us, so our flesh still has the

ability to commit sinful acts.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

·  The born again nature within us ______us

from ______committing sin.

Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.

TWO
LAWS

·  The law of the Spirit doesn’t ______the law

of sin but ______it.

·  Our old nature ______us to the point of

______us, unless we are set free!

NOT I, BUT ______ / NOT I, BUT ______
Romans 7:20 Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. / Romans 7:25 I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans 7:24 O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? / Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
