1. Go out on the internet and search for a headshot of one of your favorite celebrities or if you have a picture of you that you would like to use you can use it.
  2. Open Photoshop.
  3. Open your Picture.
  4. (haha! I know! I thought I’d use a fun one!)
  5. If needed-Use the crop tool to crop your image to 2.5 by 3.5in.
  6. Use a selection method of your choice to select around you or your celebrity.
  7. Duplicate the Background layer by Right Clicking on the Background layer and clicking Duplicate Layer. Name the new layer Me.
  8. Make sure the Me layer is selected. Click Select/Inverse to select the background of that layer.
  9. Click Delete on the keyboard. Nothing will happen in your canvas, but your layers should look like this now.
  10. Let’s get rid of the Background layer. Double click the Background Layer and name it Layer 0. Then drag Layer 0 to the trash can.
  11. Now your Layers should look like this:
  12. Now in your canvas, you should have a transparent background, or little squares like this:
  13. Use the eraser to delete any extra stuff behind you and to clean up your picture.
  14. Create a new layer and name it Background by clicking Layer/New Layer.
  15. Click on the Background layer and drag it below your Me layer.
  16. Make sure the Me layer is selected.
  17. We need to reselect our bodies again, so click and hold down the CTRL key on your keyboard. Then click on the Me layer on the thumbnail while still holding down CTRL.
  18. Now we’re going to play with the filters and our picture. Click Filter/Filter Gallery. Then click/Artistic/Colored Pencil.
  19. Play with the settings for the Colored Pencil Filter until you get it to the way you like. Click OK.
  20. Deselect your Body by clicking Select/Deselect.
  21. Now click on your Background layer.
  22. Click on the Gradient button.
  23. Choose a foreground and a background color for your gradient.
  24. Click on your Background layer. Create a gradient on the Background layer.
  25. Create a fun background. You can use brushes if you want.
  26. Make sure the Background layer is still selected. Click Select/All.
  27. Click Filter/Artistic/Colored Pencil again and play with the settings. Click OK. This will apply those settings to the background as well.
  28. Click Save As. Save your picture as yourLastnamefilter1
  29. Close your picture.
  30. Repeat steps 2-15 again.
  31. Click Filter/Filter Gallery. Click Sketch/Photocopy.
  32. Play with the options. Click OK.
  33. Repeat steps 16-25.
  34. Now click Filter/Sketch/Photocopy again and play with the settings. Click OK. This will apply those settings to the background as well.
  35. Save your picture as yourlastnamefilter2.
  36. Close your picture.
  37. Do these steps again to create six more FilterFun creations. Remember there are different types of filters listed under Filters, including Artistic, Brush Strokes, Distort, Sketch, Stylize, and Texture.
  38. Save each picture as yourlastnameFilter#. (ie. JonesFilter 3.)
  39. You’ll be making eight total filtered pictures in all.
  40. Create a new canvas 10 in wide by 7 in tall, 180 resolution.
  41. Move & Resize each of the pitures
  42. Flatten each file, Layer menu, flatten image
  43. Image menu, Image size, unclick constrain proportions, make each pic 2.5 in x 3.5 in
  44. Hint: turn ruler and gridlines on to help line up pictures
