COLLEGE MUSIC CAPTAIN2014

The role of College Music Captain is a senior position in the Student Leadership structure. They should display outstanding leadership qualities and at all times be a role model for all members of the College community. The College Music Captain should have a strong interest and active involvement in the School Music Program.

DUTY STATEMENT

The Gleneagles Music Captain will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Represent the Collegeat all school Music events.
  • Assist with the planning and running of Music events at Variety Night, Open Night, Year 7 Recruitment night, Production and other musical events.
  • Promote and develop College Music activities at school including regular presentations and performances at Assemblies and articles in the Newsletter.
  • Arrange various lunchtime performances in consultation with Music Director and encourage/promote community performances.
  • Be a member of Performance Ensembles
  • Attend regular Music meetings with SSC (to keep updated on events)
  • Actively participate on the Student Leadership Team
  • Prepare a Music report for the College School Magazine
  • Assist in the set up of sound for General Assemblies.

SELECTION CRITERIA

The Music School Captains will be selected based on their ability to respond to the following criteria:

  1. Currently in Year9-11 for College Music Captain, or Year 7-8 for Deputy Music Captain.
  2. Highly developed musical skills and talentappropriate to the years of learning. A demonstrated passion for and commitment to music.
  3. A commitment to assisting in planning, attending and participating in College Music functions and activities.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the different Music opportunities available at Gleneagles
  5. Highly developed organisational and time management skills, including an ability to meet deadlines.
  6. Active member of Performance Ensembles.
  7. Demonstrated leadership skills.

SELECTION PROCESS

  • Interview of students

The interview will directly address the candidates ability to fulfil the duty statement and address the selection criteria. Panel recommendations to be given to the Principal.
