Summary of Meeting

The group established a standard meeting time of Thursdays from 9:00 to 10:00, with the exception of the next two meetings which will both be held on Wednesday at the same time.

The group looked at several GIS applications that are presently active to get an idea of what is already in use. These included:

IWRIS: http://app1.iwris.water.ca.gov/iwris/

CLASIS: http://cdecgis.water.ca.gov/clasis/

FLOODER: http://cdecgis.water.ca.gov/flooder/

COP: http://cop.resources.ca.gov/cop_public/Default.aspx

Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta Viewer: http://salem/deltaviewer/

The conversation moved onto topics that standards need to be developed for, this includes:

“Look and Feel”

Symbology

Security

Authentication

Authorization

Services

Base Functionality

Defining the difference between business app with a map and a GIS application

Templates

Technology

Do to time constraints it was suggested that, for the next meeting, each member develop an outline of what topics need standardization addressed.

Also discussed:

Diana mentioned the GIS Committees had decided against the use of Silverlight; Dana will investigate this and report back.

Eric mentioned that ESRI has plans to deprecate JAVA and VBA and ADF API and that Flex, Silverlight and Flash will continue to be supported.
