Communications

·  Any information received from the MSHSL or the Coaches Association is to be brought to the attention of the Activities Director.

·  E-mail addresses and/or phone numbers will be available for all levels of

coaching. Please address any concerns first to your school’s activities director who will pass on any unresolved issues to the conference football coordinator.

Schedule

·  The conference will be divided into two divisions. The East Division will include the following schools: Delano, Holy Family Catholic, Hutchinson, New Prague, Orono & Waconia. The West Division will include the following schools: Annandale, Dassel-Cokato, Glencoe-Silver Lake, Litchfield, Mound-Westonka & New London-Spicer. Each conference school will compete against each school in their division and then will cross over with the other division for an additional three games. The schedule will be determined by the conference activity directors on a two-year basis/rotation.

·  The schedule for the following year will be handed out for review at the August meeting of the activities directors with final adoption at the September meeting.

·  The schedules will be found on RSchool Today www.wcconference.org for conference and nonconference as 5 levels: Varsity, JV, C, 8th, and 7th. Additional ‘B’ games may be added by conference schools.

·  The JV & C team’s conference schedules will start out with a scrimmage on the Tuesday of the third week of practice. The remaining schedule will consist of having the same teams playing on Monday or Tuesday after the varsity played on the previous Friday. The JV & C games will be played at opposite sites (from varsity game) with 4:15 pm start times. Start times and dates, as well as the first scrimmage date, can be modified based on mutual consent of the two schools involved.

·  The 7/8th grade schedule will consist of a conference jamboree at the beginning of the season with two schools hosting at each grade level. The remaining schedule will consist of a seven game schedule where games are played on Monday’s and Thursday’s with 4:15 pm start times. The seven game schedule will follow a format that starts with a scrimmage and ends with a game. Start times, locations or dates can be modified based on mutual consent of the two schools involved.

Officials and Workers

·  Five MSHSL officials will be assigned by the conference for varsity games.

·  For varsity games the host school will provide adult workers for the chain gang and the timekeeper. Members of chain gang will wear distinctive vests/jackets.

·  The home team shall make provisions for a trainer and/or doctor at games.

·  A minimum of two officials will be used for sub-level games, with a preference for three officials.

Game Procedures

·  Starting time for varsity games will be 7:00 pm. All other levels will begin at 4:15 pm unless mutually agreed upon the two activity directors.

·  The home team will wear colored jerseys. Visiting team will wear white jerseys.

·  National Federation Rules will be followed unless noted otherwise.

·  Starting Line-ups: Each coach will bring a card listing eleven (11) starting offensive and defensive players to be handed to the public address announcer.

Pre-Game Time Schedule

·  A home team representative will inform the visitors of the schedule of activities before taking the field for warm ups, i.e. parents night. If possible, the athletic director should inform the visiting school the day prior to the game.

Scouting

·  Scouts are not permitted anywhere that fans are not permitted. End zones are off limits. Video tapes or scouting information should not be shared with schools outside of the conference.

Film Exchange

·  ALL conference schools/teams will use the Hudl Video Digital recording system to digitally exchange recorded games. Each school will be responsible to exchange digital recordings based on the following guidelines: 1) Week 1 exchange their pre-season scrimmage; 2) Week 2 exchange their first game of the season; and 3) Weeks 3 through 8 exchange two consecutive games. If for some reason a school is unable to exchange digitally recorded game(s), they are responsible to physically deliver to the opposing school/team by 12:00 pm on the Saturday before their scheduled conference game, the necessary recorded games on a DVD.

Post Season Meeting

·  A meeting following the regular season will be organized by the conference football coordinator to discuss conference handbook changes, future schedules and finalize all-conference awards.

Conference Championship

·  A team trophy will be awarded to the championship team in each division based on their record (winning percentage) against divisional conference schools only.

All Conference Awards

·  The All Conference team shall be selected by the conference varsity football coaches at the end of the season meeting with fifty-four (54) Individual plaques

being awarded based on conference standings within each division and based on the following breakdown of awards in each division:

East Division (6 Schools): 8-6-5-4-2-2

West Division (6 Schools): 8-6-5-4-2-2

·  Honorable mention awards are given at the discretion of each conference

school with the awards also the responsibility of that school.

Publicity

·  Each school may publish their own All-Conference selections locally at their discretion but may not publish any other schools selections until all schools in the conference have finished post-season play.

‘JV’ & ‘C’ Level Games

·  Length of Game – 12-minute quarters, stop time for ALL games.

·  Players - A ‘JV’ team player is anyone who does not play regularly on the varsity. He may be a varsity player providing he plays opposite (offense or defense) at the ‘JV’ level.

·  Officials and Workers- It is recommended that there are at least two referees for each ‘JV’ and ‘C’ game and a score clock operator. If there is no score clock available, one of the referees will use a stopwatch to keep track of time.
