Woodland High School Interact Club

Mr. Ray Hawkins Advisor

Dear Perspective Interact Club member,

The Interact Club of Woodland High School serves the community in a number of roles. Our first role is to assist the St. George Rotary Club in organizing and delivering the Back Pack Buddy Program to Harleyville Elementary School on a monthly basis. We also led the effort in providing child care to adult ESOL language learners at the Ridgeville Town Hall. Both service projects will continue in the upcoming school year. In the past we have provided financial donations to the Upper Dorchester County Relay for Life, with that event being influx this year we will take the charity focus of the group in different direction. That will be the number one item on the agenda of this club and the club leadership this year. This is a SERVICE ORGANIZATION; I can’t stress enough how much work our students put forth the last fiveyears to raise a school record of $13,000! In order to be in the club this year it will require an even larger commitment from all members including the new leadership team.

All Interact Club members will be required to complete a log of club service projects and fundraisers every month, those members failing to do so will be released from the club and forfeit their member fees. The Interact club is open to any Woodland High School student grades 9-12. It requires a $10 fee due at the time of joining the club, this fee is for the club t-shirt, however seniors will have to pay an additional $20 fee for graduation attire should they desire to wear Interact Regalia at WHS Graduation Ceremony in May.

Active club membership means attending club meetings once a month, and participating in club fundraisers. If a student cannot maintain the amount of work necessary that student will be removed from the club and will forfeit the $10 member fee. Also this year I must stress that club members will be REQUIRED at times to stay after school to assist with the back pack buddies program. All other information will be discussed at our first club meeting TBAduring Home Room in the Cafeteria. Club member fees and permission slips are due two weeks from our first meeting.

If you are interested in being on the Interact Club Advising Committee (Club Officers) please indicate that on this slip at the back of the page. To be on the leadership the student must have been a prior member of the club in good standing from last year. I look forward having another great and productive year, with our old and new members.
