Step 1 / Applying and getting admitted to UW Madison as a University Special student
If you were a Special student at UW Madison during the Fall 2015 term call Adult Career and Special Student Services (608-263-6960) to check if you need to reapply.

q  Complete and submit the Special student application online for the Spring 2016 term by following the steps below—please choose the option that applies to you.

Please apply by December 28, 2015.

Option 1: I’ve taken a course for credit at UW Madison after Fall 2010
Your NetID and password to access MyUW at https://my.wisc.edu should still be active. (Trouble logging in? Call DoIT Help Desk at 608-264-4357.) Log into MyUW and go to Student Center, under the Student Services menu. Click on the Reentry Application link and complete the application, choosing UNDS for your program. After submission you will be prompted to complete the Residency Application—this must be done before your application can be processed. / Option 2: I have never attended UW Madison OR I took credit courses prior to Fall 2010
Applications are available at https://apply.wisconsin.edu. (Trouble logging in? Call UW HELP at 608-263-4567.) Be sure that you select Nondegree/Special as your Reason for Applying and select UNDS as your Applying As option. Also, be sure to list TCHG – Conjecturing & Reasoning for your academic plans.


q  You will receive an admission email, followed by a letter. Please check your email in case questions arise during processing.

Save your admission information! You will need the 10-digit campus ID number included in the communications.

Step 2 / Activating your NetID and password to access MyUW
Please choose the option below which applies to you.
Option 1: I’ve taken a course for credit at UW Madison after Fall 2010
Your NetID and password to access MyUW at https://my.wisc.edu should still be active. Proceed to Step 3. (Trouble logging in? Call the DoIT Help Desk at 608-264-4357.) / Option 2: I have never attended UW Madison OR I took credit courses prior to Fall 2010
Go to My UW: https://my.wisc.edu. (You will need your 10-digit campus ID number and birthdate.) Click on the “Activate your NetID” link:

You will need your NetID and password to enroll for credit in Step 3. Please record them somewhere for future reference:

Step 3 / Enrolling in your Class
Please check your MyUW Student Center for your enrollment date and time. Enroll by January 25, 2016 to ensure that you do not receive a $25 late enrollment fee.

q  Go to MyUW, http://my.wisc.edu. Enter your NetID and password. Click on the Student Center icon. (If you have forgotten your NetID and password, please contact the DoIT Help Desk at 608-264-4357.)

q  A new window will open. Click on “Course Enrollment” link. (If Select Term pops up, choose correct term.) Input the five digit class number, 46311, in the “Enter Class Nbr” box, then click “Enter.”

q  You may be asked to select a term: “Spring 2015-16.”

q  The next screen will identify the class as Tchg: Conjecturing & Reasoning, 272-640, Section 1. Under the “Class Preferences” section, you will find the word “Units”. Select three (3) for the number of credits or units for this course.

q  Click on “Next”. You have now added the course to your enrollment “Shopping Cart.”(And here is the trickJ) You Are Not Done! Click the check box next to the course you just added to select it, and then click on “Begin Enrolling”. Click on “Finish Enrolling” on the following screen.

q  If you were able to successfully add the class, a green check mark should appear on the right side of the box under “status”. If you were not successfully able to add the class, a red X will appear under “status”. An explanation of the error is to the left of “status”.

Step 4 / Paying for your class
