Getting to The Old Deanery, Wells, BA5 2UG

From Bristol

  • You will come into Wells on the A39.
  • At the traffic lights go straight across (do not turn right) and you will come to a mini-roundabout.
  • Take a sharp turning left which brings you into The Liberty.
  • Follow the road which, after a few hundred yards, bends to the right and just before you reach
    a set of traffic lights, turn into the little narrow road to your right.
  • You should now be in St Andrews Street.
  • Continue down this road, go under an arch over the road, pass the Wells Museum (pink
    building on your right).
  • After a few yards you will come to an arch in the wall to your right. This leads you into the
    Courtyard of The Old Deanery.

From Bath

  • You will come into Wells on the B3139. At the bottom of St Thomas Street you will come to a
    junction. Go straight across, and you will come to a set of traffic lights. Slightly beyond the
    traffic lights there is a little narrow road straight ahead of you. Take this road.
  • You should now be in St Andrews Street.
  • Continue down this road, go under an arch over the road, pass the Wells Museum (pink
    building on your right).
  • After a few yards you will come to an arch in the wall to your right. This leads you into the
    Courtyard of The Old Deanery.

FROM THE A303

  • You will come into Wells via Shepton Mallet on the A371.
  • Just after Dinder take the B3139 which is sign posted to Dulcote and before the Wells Relief
    Road. (If you find yourself on the Relief Road, you have gone too far).
  • Continue to Wells.
  • On entering Wells you will come to a set of traffic lights.
  • Slightly beyond the traffic lights there is a little narrow road straight ahead of you. Take this
    road.
  • You should now be in St Andrews Street.
  • Continue down this road, go under an arch over the road, pass the Wells Museum (pink
    building on your right).
  • After a few yards you will come to an arch in the wall to your right. This leads you into the
    Courtyard of The Old Deanery.

From Bridgwater area

  • Travel to Wells on the A39 via Glastonbury and Coxley.
  • At Wells continue on the A39, following signs for through traffic.
  • At the traffic lights where Bristol is signalled left, turn right onto B3139.
  • Turn sharp left at the mini roundabout into the Liberty (you will pass some properties of Wells
    Cathedral School).
  • Follow the road to the traffic lights at the pedestrian controlled crossing.
  • Slightly before the traffic lights there is a little narrow road to your right which is St Andrews St.
  • Turn right into St Andrews Street and continue down this road, go under an arch over the road,
    pass the Wells Museum (pink building on your right).
  • After a few yards you will come to an arch in the wall on your right. This leads you into the
    Courtyard of The Old Deanery.

There is one designated disabled parking place and three additional parking spaces all of which must be pre-booked. Please speak to the organiser of your event or meeting in order to book a space.
