Location
The conference is being held in the Shackleton Building (Building 44) on the Highfield Campus of Southampton University.

Getting to Southampton
By car ..

From the M3
If taking the M3 to Southampton (from London, or from the Midlands and north via the A34), use junction 14, the A33 exit for Southampton (DO NOT follow M27 West for Southampton Docks). Follow the A33 (Bassett Ave.) through 2 roundabouts to a major intersection (with the University's Medical and Biological Sciences building to your left). Turn left onto Burgess Road, straight across the junction with University Road and then turn right into Broadlands Road. Hampton Park car park is on the left.
From the M27
From the M27, (from the South Coast or London via the A3) use junction 5 (Southampton Airport/Eastleigh) and take the A335 towards Southampton. At the second set of traffic lights, keep straight on when the A335 diverges to the left. Two more sets of lights follow immediately. At the second of these, with McDonalds in front of you, follow the right hand lane (onto Burgess Road). Broadlands Road is about ¾ mile ahead on your left, turn into Broadlands Road and then immediately left into Hampton Park car park.
Parking
We have been allocated parking spaces in the Hampton Park car park which is accessed from Broadlands Road (shown on the campus map below). To park in this car park you will need a parking permit. If you intend bringing a car to the conference please email Julia () and she will post you a parking permit. Parking permits will also be available from the registration desk.
It is a 5-10 minute walk from the car park to the Shackleton building, parking closer to the building can be arranged if you have mobility difficulties. The car park closes at 6.00 pm.
Parking is restricted elsewhere on campus and parking tickets and clamping are in operation !!
By train ..
Southampton has two main train stations – Southampton Airport and Southampton Central. Taxis and buses to the University are available from both stations, but buses are more frequent from Central station. Details of buses are available at

By air ..
From Gatwick: There is a direct train from Gatwick Airport to Southampton Central railway station which takes around two and a half hours.
From Heathrow: The cheapest way to get to Southampton is by coach from the airport coach station to Southampton city centre ( the direct coach service takes around one and a half hours.
Alternatively, you can take a railair coach ( from the airport (there are coach stops at each terminal at Heathrow) to Woking railway station and then a train from Woking to Southampton.
From Southampton: Southampton Airport is adjacent to Southampton Airport Parkway station.
Registration
The registration desk will be open from 9.00 on Monday 8 September outside Lecture Theatre A on the ground floor of the Shackleton Building. The registration desk will remain open throughout the conference.

Arrival
/ Reception is usually open between 08:00 and 23:00 hours, although there is 24 hour security cover.Bedrooms are available from noon on the day of arrival.
Soap and towels are provided in each of the bedrooms with complimentary tea and coffee making facilities provided in each residence.
There are no shaving points in most rooms; please bring an adapter for a 13 amp power point if you use an electric razor.
Departure

If you are arriving on Sunday evening we recommend that you go into Southampton City for an evening meal – there are a variety of restaurants on Oxford Street. Alternatively, the Cowherds Pub on The Avenue (just opposite Winn Road) serves food until 10pm. This is a c. 20-30 minute walk from Glen Eyre.
