Y.Faculty Annual Report. By May 1 each year, each faculty member will submit to their Department Head, in a format to be agreed on by the Faculty Federation and the University, a Faculty Annual Report (FAR). The FAR will describe the faculty member’s activities during that academic year in Teaching, Scholarship and/or Creative Activity, Service, and other areas that contributed to the goals of the Department, School or University.

(1) The Department Head will review and discuss the FAR with the faculty member

by June 1 and indicate in writing any issues or areas of needed improvement. The

dates in this procedure can be extended by mutual agreement in the case of

extenuating circumstances.

(2) The information provided in the FAR will be the basis for annual evaluations of

probationary faculty, course load reductions, summer fellowships, merit pay, and

promotion stipend reviews.

(3) Except as set forth elsewhere in this Agreement or as otherwise agreed to by the

Faculty Federation and the University, the FAR shall constitute the sole report

submitted by the faculty member.

SCHOLARSHIP AND/OR CREATIVE ACTIVITY

List and describe your accomplishments in the areas of scholarship or creative activities during the current academic year. Include work performed on projects not yet completed. For work in progress, include the status of the project and the expected completion date of the project.

3. Definition of scholarship and creative work

a.“A” Scholarship– The University places premium value on peer reviewed
scholarship which is shared with the discipline through any of the following:

  1. Article in a refereed scholarly journal
  2. Scholarly book or monograph
  3. Textbook (authored, first edition, recognized academic publisher)
  4. Award of a competitive funded research grant in which the faculty member is a principal or co-principal investigator where the amount of the grant is equal to or greater than $5,000
  5. Article or chapter in a scholarly book
  6. Comparable achievements in literary writing, the fine arts, performing arts, design, cinema, video or related technologies

b.“B” Scholarship – The University values scholarly contributions which are

shared with the discipline in the following ways:

  1. Chapter in a textbook
  2. Scholarly paper in a refereed conference proceeding
  3. Textbook revision or editorship
  4. Teacher’s manual, exercises or other supplementary materials for use in acollege-level course
  5. Paper at a state, regional or national scholarly meeting or presentation at atrade association meeting
  6. Award of other competitive grant in which the faculty member is aprincipal or co-principal investigator
  7. Scholarly book review, commentary, teaching notes, instructional softwareor other non-research based piece published in scholarly books or journals
  8. Science abstract, legal case note or comparable research report
  9. Publication in trade journals
  10. Comparable achievements in literary writing, the fine arts, performing
  11. arts, design, cinema, video or related technologies

c.The Dean can consider works not included in items 3.a. and 3.b. of this article as
“A” or “B” scholarship if it can be demonstrated that those works are equivalentvalue as the works included in these items. The determination by the Dean that awork equivalent to “A” or “B” scholarship shall be in writing and is not subject toappeal.

TEACHING

b.Implementation of learning outcomes assessment with Appendix K titled
“Guidelines for Determining the Applicability of a Learning OutcomesAssessment Mechanism” serving as a guideline for determining the applicability of an outcomes assessment mechanism.

c.Efforts on the part of the faculty member to update the knowledge of their
discipline to the state-of-the-art, provided that the effort results in a deliverable result such as certification or significant revision to course content.

2.For librarians:

a.Knowledge of the specifics of a particular job and demonstrated skill in
performing that job including judgment and decision-making abilities, quality of completed work assignments, and the ability to set and accomplish appropriate performance goals.
