Waste bricks and pallets disposed of in skip.
All operatives must wear Safety footwear-this will be monitored by Supervisor.
Work area must be cordoned off to protect staff, students and visitors and all work equipment must be kept within the area.
4. / Flying Debris from cutting bricks / Eye Injury / Staff / All staff must wear Safety Goggle to EN 166 B standard when breaking bricks. This will be monitored by Supervisor
5. / Hazardous Substances – mortar / Contact Dermatitis
Burns / Staff / Risk of Dermatitis or cement burns should be explained to staff.
Use cement or cement containing products within the use-by date.
Direct skin contact should be avoided – use CE marked PVC gloves when handling mortar.
Washing facilities are available on site – staff should be reminded to observe high levels of personal hygiene and not eat, drink or smoke until properly washed.
Staff must inform supervisor of any early signs of dermatitis or changes to the skin.
6. / Operating cement mixer / Crush injuries
Entanglement in moving parts
Electric shock / Staff / Cement mixer must be located on firm level ground
Mixer must be fully guarded and guards in place during operation
Mixer must be 110 volt and PAT tested every …………..
Visual check of the mixer before use to identify any obvious damage
